Tucked away from the hustle and bustle yet less than a minutes’ walk to the iconic harbour’s edge, this lovely property has a romance about it yet oozes style too. From the original window seats to the state of the art bathroom, much love has gone into this retreat, making it a perfect place from which to explore the glorious far West of Cornwall. LIVING Step into Mill Leat and you’ll find yourself immediately in the cosy living space. To the left a linen-covered sofa stretches languidly across the room, facing the striking Cornish stone wall and snug wood burner. Should you want a relaxed night in, there’s a Smart T.V and DVD player as well as a Loewe wireless speaker system. In front of the sofa there’s a large Indian chest serving as a coffee table and under the window a funky sideboard, designed by the owner. A huge nautical mirror faces out towards the front windows, reflecting a lovely pearlescent light and gives the space an airy feel. Unusual reclaimed art adorns the shelves and walls, whilst free-hanging sturdy oak stairs lead to the landing above. Step outside to the rear you’ll find a very spacious courtyard – very rare for Mousehole – to enjoy a spot of al fresco dining amongst the potted olive trees. EATING You’ll find the lovely dark wood kitchen on the right as you come through the front door. Running along the width of the house, sleek cupboards house a well-stocked kitchen complete with Jamie Oliver china. A Neff cooker and hob offer an excellent opportunity to cook something fresh from the harbour whilst the fridge and dishwasher are discreetly tucked away behind wooden doors. For coffee lovers there’s a cherry-red Nespresso coffee maker alongside chrome Dualit appliances. In the handy outhouse you’ll find an additional full height fridge/freezer plus an AEG washing machine. For eating, there’s a fab pale grey Swedish dining table lovingly restored by the owner with statement Philippe Starck style chairs that compliment the dining experience perfectly, whilst three large low-hanging lamps ensure your meals will always be illuminating! SLEEPING Mill Leat has two lovely double rooms, both boasting fantastic sea views over the harbour and across to St. Clement’s Isle. The master bedroom has a gorgeous French country-style king sized bed, and the soft monochrome colours throughout the room imbue a gentle ambience. There’s plenty of storage with cute wooden built-in wardrobes and the room is very thoughtfully furnished with exquisite pieces such as the gigantic Romanesque full length mirror, wrought iron hooks discovered by the owner in Portabello Market and eye-catching lighting from Heals. The second bedroom is a haven of white with a cosy double bed, built in wooden wardrobes and lovely exposed floorboards. This room also has an incredibly ornate full-length mirror and the furniture, painted a soft dove grey, act as accentuation pieces alongside monochrome soft furnishings. Both bedrooms have luxurious 400-thread Egyptian cotton bedding. BATHING At the top of the stairs you’ll find the very lovely bathroom, complete with stunning floor lighting and sleek black tiles. There’s a fantastic Japanese style plunge bath and shower, perfect for whiling away an hour or so neck-deep in bubbles (with maybe a glass of bubbles in your hand!). A chrome heated towel rail ensures the room is toasty warm whilst Jasper Conran furnishings complete the look. Downstairs, there’s a great wet room with a rain-head shower, and lovely soft grey tiles feel warm underfoot thanks to the under floor heating. Bath towels are organically produced and Gilchrist & Soames toiletries along with large fluffy bathrobes are thoughtfully provided. Outside in the courtyard the owner’s have thoughtfully put in a fab shower, perfect for rinsing off the sand after a warm day on the beach. WiFi Mill Leat is fully WiFi ready with high speed broadband so if you need to keep in touch with the outside world you can. As well as Smart T.V. and DVD there is a Loewe wireless speaker system designed to link up with your smartphone or tablet so you can listen to your favourite music and radio stations. HOLIDAY CONDITIONS Holiday periods are 7 nights starting on a Monday or Friday or short breaks of 3 night starting on a Friday or 4 nights starting on a Monday but please enquire if this doesn't suit. Mill Leat is a non-smoking property and does not accept dogs. PARKING There is parking for a small car at the owners responsibility, but we would recommend you take a look at the access to check if your car will fit, as due to the nature of old Cornish villages the roads are very narrow. There is pay and display at the quayside car park just a few minutes walk away at a cost of £3.00 per day. You will be able to do a 'bag drop' at the bottom of Cherry Garden Street and carry your bags the few yards to the cottage. INTERACTION WITH GUESTS Prior to arrival, guests will be supplied with all the information they should need for their stay. They will be left to enjoy the property in privacy. However, if there are any problems you will have the contact details for both the owners and the housekeeper should you you need them. GETTING AROUND Rail - If you enjoy travelling by train, then why not take advantage of the Night Riviera Sleeper Service running from London Paddington, which gets you into Penzance just in time for breakfast by the sea, and fully rested so you can start enjoying your holiday. Alternatively, if you want to take in the views, there are regular services from Paddington, Bristol, Bath, the Cotswolds, Birmingham, The Midlands, South Wales and Edinburgh with First Great Western, Virgin and Cross Country Trains. CAR HIRE - You can pick up a rental car at Penzance Railway Station or if travelling from Newquay Airport. AIR - Newquay Airport is less than an hour away and runs regular domestic and international flights. Fly from London Gatwick, Bristol, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Dublin, Cork and Belfast. TAXIS - Mousehole is about a ten minute drive from Penzance. You can usually pick up a taxi from Penzance Train Station. BUSES - buses at Penzance as well as local buses every 30 mins from Mousehole.
