Mermaid Cove is a private home with 3 bedrooms, kitchen with dining area, living room, 1 ¾ bathrooms, wet bar room with sitting area, and laundry facilities. Two bedrooms have queen beds and a set of twin bunk beds. The MBR has a queen bed with a private ¾ bath. The two other bedrooms share a full bath with laundry. We provide all bedding and bath linens, kitchen and bathroom paper products. Firewood and propane gas are provided for the fire pits and grill as well as some water floats for our guest. Rates are seasonal: $175 winter, $225 fall/spring, $225-$300 summer per night stay. Best summer deals (Monday- Wednesday night in August) Fee's include; Alabama Lodges Tax @ 10%, Cleaning Fee @ $125 + tax per stay. VRBO/HomeAway charges a service fee. Additional $35.00 + tax per additional guest greater than 10. Must be at least age 25 to book property. No pets, parties, or large groups permitted during your stay. Minimum night stays are seasonal; Summer rates: Reservations Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend require a 3 night minimum. Holiday's require a 4 night stay in the summer. (June 30 - July 9th and August 30 - September 3) Summer month weekends: Thursday - Sunday; require 3 consecutive night stays. Summer month weekdays: Monday - Wednesday; may be combined with any weekend nights stays in any combination or must be at least two consecutive weekday nights. (Ex.) Thursday - Monday night, Friday - Monday night, Monday - Tuesday or Tuesday - Wednesday night. Spring/Winter/ Fall rates: Reservations after Labor Day weekend and before Memorial Day weekend require a 2 night minimum except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and NY holidays (3 night). Check in times are 4:00 pm CST. Check out is 10:00 am CST. We will accommodate early or late check in/out when possible. Check calendar to see if anyone is checking in or out on the same day. These must be approved with owner. The kitchen has a full oven with stove top, dishwasher, microwave, and refrigerator with ice maker. There is a second refrigerator in the wet bar area with filtered water and ice dispenser in the door. The kitchen is stocked with place settings for 10-12 and includes a convection oven, blender, coffee maker, pots and pans, and kitchen linens. The living area has a 42” HD TV with Dish Network programming. LG sound bar has blue-tooth capability. Satellite wireless internet available. Hot spots for AT&T and Verizon will work at the house. The wet bar room includes bar glassware and bar accessories. The refrigerator dispenses whole or crushed ice. The outside back deck is 10’ x 65’ and is covered to provide shade. It has plenty of sitting for 10-12 people and a bar style area for outside eating that sits 10 people. The deck has a gas log fire pit for cool evenings and ceiling fans for the hot summer days to enjoy the outside. The back deck gets early morning sun, great for watching the sunrise, and is completely shaded for most of the day. The lower back deck has a picnic table for a place to get away and a porch swing that overlooks the lake. This area is covered as well and makes a great place to hide from the others! Mermaid Cove is located a short 30 minute drive from I-65 and 3 miles by water from Smith Lake Dam in Spring Branch. All roads are paved to the property. Birmingham and Huntsville (1-1.5 hour drive) Jasper (1 hour drive) Nashville is 2.5 hour drive. The property is located in the back of the cove but just out in the main creek to provide the optimal location. During low water levels in the fall we have minimum of 40 feet of water under our boat house. Very low boat traffic provides a calm day on the water even at peak seasons. The covered boathouse has one 9’ X 20’ boat slip. Two covered PWC dry docks are connected to the boat house. The 16‘ X 28’ swim deck has all day sun for the “sun worshipers” but plenty of shade when needed. Lounge chairs, paddle-boat, kayaks, Stand up Paddle Board, water floats, swim noodles, Splash Island 18' x 6' and deck umbrella will be available for your use. Most life jacket sizes are available in the boathouse shed. Check with us if you need life jackets to make sure we have the correct sizes you need. Electrical Safety awareness has been raised in the last couple of years on the lake due to electrical shock while swimming. Our boathouse has water and electricity running to it from the house. The electrical current is protected by a GFI breaker in case of a ground fault. This prevents the current from staying on if a shock occurs. This main line is also controlled from the main breaker box in the house and can be turned off if you prefer. This prevents accidents from occurring due to electrical shock. A charcoal grill and a gas grill is available for your use on the patio. We provide propane but not the charcoal. A wood fire pit is built into the patio and firewood is provided for campfires. Our property has a gentle slope to the water and we have graded the walkway and added steps to make it very easy to access the boat house. This is not handicapped accessible. Parking for vehicles and boat trailers is available on the property. We have a gravel drive through drive large enough to accommodate up to an F-2500 with a Sea Ray 260 with no problem. Can park approximately 5-7 vehicles and a couple of trailers. Enjoy beautiful Lewis Smith Lake at Mermaid Cove year round. We now see bald eagles in our area as well as a large family of Canadian geese. A lot of wild life is in the area you can see from the house. Mermaid Cove provides year round peace and relaxing with a warm fire on the gas logs on the deck on a cool fall evening or building a wood fire on the patio for so mores in the summer. There is never a bad time to enjoy the lake with plenty of year round activities within 30-45 miles of the house. Year round golf, guided fishing trips on the lake as well as fly fishing below the dam for trout, arts and crafts, bird watching, kayaking and boating. Seasonal activities include art/music festivals, water sports, hunting and fishing. The neighborhood has shaded paved roads that are excellent for walking or jogging with low traffic. More advanced walkers and runners will enjoy rolling hills and many straight-a-ways to challenge your abilities. There are walk/runs from 1-10 mile out and backs.
