The Main House is a large, modern home that can comfortably accommodate 10 people. Two large public rooms and a large deck are designed for entertaining, making it the ideal gathering place for up to 24 people staying in the Silver Bay View Cottages properties. The lake is one of the cleanest in the East Coast, and as you swim or relax, you are looking across to undeveloped wilderness. Boating: There may be no better lake in the Mid-Atlantic region for boating. The 20,000 acres of Smith Mountain Lake and its 40-mile length make it a perfect place for water skiing, speed boating, canoeing, kayaking or sailing. Power boats and wave runners can be rented at several locations on the lake, including: Bridgewater Plaza Marina (Boats can also be picked up at the State Park), Parrot Cove (Parrot Cove also rents Kayaks), Parkway Marina (formerly knows as Saunders Marina), Mitchell's Point Marina or Virgil Naff Sea Doo (wave runners only). The closest boat launch and boat rental is Mitchell's Point Marina. Fishing: Fishing opportunities at Silver Bay View Cottages are unbelievable. The properties are located on Witcher Creek where the stripers spawn every spring. The lake is regularly stocked with game fish, and contains striped bass, large and small mouth bass, muskies, northern pike, and an assortment of small game fish. Fishing guides are available to introduce you to the lake, including: Captain Bert's Fishin' Charters, Mike's Striper Guide Service, Rockfish Adventures. COVID-19 Disinfectant Process and Policy: - A minimum of 24 hours between guests (i.e. the property will remain unoccupied between 10 a.m. check-out and 3 p.m. check-in the following day). This policy is in-force through the end of May and will be extended past that date if needed. - Housekeepers use disinfectant on all surfaces when they clean to protect both themselves and incoming guests. BRING YOUR OWN TOILET PAPER AND PAPER TOWELS While we normally provide toilet paper and paper towels, the rationing of these products, if even available, make it impossible for us to keep them in stock for our rental guests. As soon as they become readily available we will resume providing them. Bedford County Short Term Occupancy Taxes: There is a 7% Short Term Occupancy tax in Bedford County. A separate payment request will be sent upon completion of your booking. This used to be collected by HomeAway/VRBO, but they changed their policies on 7/1/19. This was finally corrected! All reservations booked AFTER 9/7/20 will include the short term occupancy tax. (Note: If you made your reservation PRIOR to this date it was not included and must be paid)
