2 Bedroom Cottage in Honaunau-Napoopoo, Captain Cook

Wake up eye-level with the canopy in a lofted bedroom with floor-to-ceiling windows and traditional furnishings. Nestled among forest and rich with daylight, this tropical hideaway offers an unmatched open-air environment with eclectic adornment.
This eco-hale was built to express the simple beauty of outdoor-inspired living in Hawaii. The climate is comfortable year-round, as we are at 400 ft above sea level. Built in an open-air style with native Ohia posts, you will feel the expansiveness of being in nature, combined with the comforts of home. The open-air spaces have ceiling fans and the 2 bedrooms are totally screened in and give one a "tree house" feel. The hale is decorated in a Bohemian, Balinese influenced style... with natural materials. The hale has a bath house that is 30 feet away on a private footpath featuring an outside shower surrounded by a grove of plumerias, ginger, bananas, ti and other tropical foliage.
The Master Bedroom is on the second floor and feels like you're living in the "Golden Glow" Mango trees. It has a King Bed, a Balinese writer's desk, dresser and plenty of room to stretch or do a yoga practiced. One "wall" is floor-to-ceiling screened in window which gives guests an expansive feeling, united with the beauty of Nature. The room is decorated in a modern, bohemian style ~ tasteful, relaxed and comfortable. All bedding is 100% cotton and crisp white. The entire master suite is screened in.
The downstairs bedroom is completely screened in and has a queen bed and garden view. It feels more like a tucked away, nest. It is cozy and decorated in a modern, tropical~balinese style with 100% cotton, crisp white linens.
The kitchen is well-equipped and has everything you need for basic meal preparation.
The entire living area is an open-air concept with an open-floor plan. The kitchen has a 2-person bar area and there's a casual dining table for 4. The living area has a couch day-bed, a comfortable reading chair and an awesome hammock. There are award-winning Haiku ceiling fans in the open-air areas, which are more to help with mosquitos. The decor is a Bohemian, Balinese style in neutral colors. None of the living spaces are screened in.
The bathroom is an out-house, located 30 feet away down a secluded foot path. It has no electricity. It has a standard toilet, sink and wonderful outdoor shower with hot water and strong water pressure. Check-out the pictures. It is private to your rental, however once in awhile (~1x/week) from 10am - 3pm, an onsite massage client will use the bathroom as the bath house is adjacent to my massage hale.
The massage hale which is down the same path as the bath house is available for massages (from The Tao Within Massage) or you may use it in the mornings and evenings for yoga, trading massages, meditation or relaxation. It has an AMAZING audio engine sound system, and really magical lighting. It is available for your use before 9am and after 4pm.
Depending on the day and time of year, the farm can have bugs, mosquitos, geckos, spiders, ants, etc. There are also wild chickens roaming the farm and sometimes they even come and lay an egg in the kitchen (the irony!!). Are you ok with that? We just want to ensure that you're happy ~ this is a tropical, mostly outdoor experience. If you want an indoor experience, this is not for you :-) We are 100% committed to ensuring that our rental is clean and that we have no infestations. We have a pest company that sprays the perimeter of the building on a routine maintenance schedule. But, we cannot control mama nature.
Massages (multiple modalities) are available onsite for $100/hour. We offer Esalen, Deep Tissue, Chi Nei Tsang and Lomi Lomi. We offer CBD oil massages and sell CBD oil. We also offer specialized liver detox packages from Quicksilver Scientific.
We provide guests fresh fruit depending on what is in-season. On the property, there are variety of fruit trees, including 8 varieties of mango (~65 trees), 3 varieties of banana, 2 variety of avocado, coconut, moringa, papaya, tangelo, lemon, lime, tangerine, suriname cherry, ulu (breadfruit), figs, lilikoi (passionfruit), Hawaiian chili pepper, lemongrass, kafir lime, ginger, tumeric. We bring you an assortment of fresh, ripe fruit and will replenish upon request. We have no control over what Mother Nature provides, so apologies in advance if fruit is out-of-season when you are here.
In the center of the property, next to a grove of banana trees, there are vegetable and herb gardens, all grown organically with permaculture and korean natural farming methods. Please let us know if you would like fresh produce and herbs during your stay.
Unless we make specific arrangements with you, we won't necessarily meet you.We also have on-site care takers who live on the farm full-time in case you need anything to make your stay more comfortable or memorable - but they also might not meet you unless you reach out :-)We also are available via phone and thru the Airbnb app, which sends us a real-time text message. We encourage you to reach out if you'd like recommendations or have any questions.
The home is one mile from the spectacular Kealakekua Bay, where one can try activities such as kayaking, snorkeling, swimming, paddle boarding, and surfing. Restaurants, cafes, and supermarkets are a short drive away.
Public transportation is not an option in this area. You'll definitely need to rent a car. Even though we are only 1 mile from Kealakekua Bay, it is down a windy road (400ft climb) without a shoulder, so not the ideal beach walk :-)
- Hawaii Mandatory short-term occupancy tax collected at check-in (14.25%), but can vary slightly when the State raises taxes
~ The entire farm respects quiet hours 9pm-8am, with no music and only quiet conversations during these hours because no one closes their windows in Hawaii :-)
- The Mango Farm is a place for relaxation, restoration and re-charging
~ We are a working, organic mango farm with 65 mango trees and about 15 other types of fruit trees (permaculture, organic, korean natural farming practices), and we have extensive vegetable and herb gardens. We also make essential oils of lemongrass, tulsi, curry leaf, cinnamon, nutmeg, citrus, basil, catnip and many other botanicals. We make plant-based medicine and value-added products like moringa powder, mango chutney and tinctures from time-to-time, so let us know if you're interested in products we are making.
~ This rental is located on an Organic Mango farm and can have mosquitos, bugs, spiders and geckos/critters. We might not, but we may! We are 120% committed to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness in the house, but remember, you are on a farm. There can be wild and free-roaming chickens and roosters. There are birds of all kinds, coqui frogs and you might even spot a mongoose running across the farm. We also have farm cats and although they are so sweet and friendly, they are not allowed in the house. We mention all of this in case you want a fully sanitized experience - if so, this is not your best choice :-) Even though we are an organic farm, we contract with a monthly pest service to ensure the best possible experience while on the farm. We have very high standards and want this to show :-)
~ We are very easy to reach via the Airbnb app and also have full-time and on-site caretakers. We encourage you to reach out if you need anything.
We are 1 mile from spectacular Kealakekua Bay, home to spinner dolphins, incredible turquoise waters and world-class snorkeling, paddle boarding and kayaking.
Nature based living! Think possible mosquitoes, geckos, wild chickens/roosters, coqui frogs, birds, bees, insects, mongoose.. We are viligant about routine pest management, but to enjoy this experience, you need to be at one with nature.
We are a HOSTED rental, which is legally required for agriculurally zoned rentals like ours.
