The spacious 4,792 SF+/- residence, originally built in 1795, was completely rebuilt in 2018 by renowned designer Philip Mitchell with no expense spared or detail overlooked.
The 4 bedroom, 4 full bath and 2 half bath residence has been meticulously updated for year-round living with completely new mechanicals throughout including Enviroshake roofing with a lifetime guarantee, double glazed/hung historic reproduction custom windows by Ridley (maintenance free exterior finish), custom hot water radiators, in floor heating, built-in speakers, Waterworks plumbing fixtures, and so much more, all while recalling historic details from when the house was originally built.
The expert craftsmanship and hand-crafted finish work are evident throughout. Details include restored original wide plank floors, beadboard, paneling, moldings, millwork, hand carved staircase banisters, beamed ceilings, imported marble stonework, hand glazed tiles, custom cabinetry, multiple mantle pieces, and more. The restoration of White Cottage won the ‘Built Heritage Award’ from the Heritage Trust of Nova Scotia. The house has been featured in numerous magazines, books and online publications. It was the cover story of Veranda Magazine and is also featured “Collected Interiors: Rooms that tell a story” recently published by Rizzoli.
