Summary: The house near Playa Negra was beautiful; open and spacious, plenty of ceiling fans and air conditioning, and a pool--our kids loved the pool! The beds and linens were comfortable, the kitchen was perfectly appointed with everything we needed, including a blender the kids used for making smoothies. Carla was incredibly quick to help with any issues, and she was really great at offering (& booking!) all kinds of activities, restaurants, etc. We ate out a lot and had great food nearby pretty consistently. Really great food and beaches nearby: Lola's at Avellanos is only a 15-minute drive away; over very bumpy roads! Good food, beautiful beach, lots of beach chairs and umbrellas for rent... A few things to note: the fifth bedroom has to be entered from the outdoor balcony, not from inside the house. It wasn't a huge deal for us but may be something families want to know. The other is that Tamarindo (45-min drive away) is the closest place with an ATM. Carla helpfully suggested we bring plenty of cash, but we didn't know ATMs were so scarce locally. There are little markets around but groceries were pretty pricey. The larger supermarkets seemed slightly better. And Carla had groceries waiting for us on arrival after we gave her a specific list. All in all it was a really relaxed and fun trip for all of us, and the house was the perfect home base.
