The Mooring at Harwich Port is a stunning, restored 19th century Sea Captain's house, built in 1870 and at one time owned by Seafood Merchant Theophilus Baker. The house is a excellent example of 19th century Italianate architecture; featuring custom millwork, 10 foot high ceilings, large windows, hardwood floors, and an oversized farmer's porch. Professionally decorated with a coastal flare and contemporary furnishings. The Mooring is a fabulous setting for family vacations, corporate retreats, special events, and wedding parties seeking to experience rich, classic opulence in concert with all the conveniences of updated, upscale accommodations. Purchased in 2012 by the present owners, the property has undergone an extensive restoration; all electrical, plumbing, fire sprinklers, and mechanical systems have been replaced. The first floor was made handicap accessible, A third story addition added two bedrooms and two baths. Modern luxuries include, central air conditioning, LED lighting, cable TV, WiFi, integrated audio system with Apple TV, Sonos, Pandora, and Sirius Radio. The property is designed for entertaining with grandeur, beginning with a state of the art gourmet, commercial grade kitchen. A caterer's delight, the kitchen provides three sinks, two dishwashers, an enormous commercial range, cavernous side-by-side commercial refrigerator/freezer, an abundance of top quality cookware, flatware, cutlery, yards of counter space and every piece of kitchen equipment imaginable. The charming dining room seats up to eight. Cocktails are served in the extraordinary great room with plenty of lounge seating, a big flat screen TV and extraordinary wet bar with an abundance of glassware in every shape and size. Step across the main foyer into the separate reading room with more lounge seating and a comforting gas fireplace. Or gather on the wrap-around farmer's porch to relax or play cards in the shade on a sultry summer afternoon. This three-story 4,500 sf house features six bedrooms, three with king size beds, three with queens. Each has its own private full bath and flat screen HDTV. There are three bedrooms on the second floor: one with a king and two with queens. The third level is comprised of two bedrooms, each with a king size bed and sliders to a shared balcony with a peek at Nantucket Sound. The sixth bedroom has its own, private stairway near the kitchen and features a queen size bed. You can walk to everything in the village, including Port Summer Nights each summer Wednesday, featuring free musical strolls.
