Located in the stunning grounds of Old Hunstanton Hall, a 14th Century mansion whose most famous of visitors included P.G. Wodehouse, this delightful barn conversion is hidden away from the main coastal road and village of Old Hunstanton. Dairy Cottage was built in the 17th Century as a working dairy for the main Hall, but since has been tastefully converted to a high standard into a large family holiday home. The property features a large kitchen/dining room with a large farmhouse style table that can be extended to seat 12. The Kitchen boasts many original features such as numerous exposed beams and overlooks one of the two fully enclosed gardens. It has particularly high ceilings which along with the large windows give it a wonderful light, airy and spacious feel. It is very well equipped with a large American style fridge freezer, dishwasher, double Belfast sink and a large electric cooking range with 5 gas hobs. All of this makes entertaining friends and family a breeze as well as a very social experience! There is also enormous utility room, featuring a washing machine, tumble dryer and a second Belfast sink (so no excuse not to help with the washing up)! Off this utility room there is a small toilet and wash basin. The living room will comfortably seat 10 people on two lovely four seat sofas and two fantastic wing back chairs. It is the perfect room for settling down in an evening in front of the wood burning stove: Watching a movie on the LED Sony TV with BluRay, playing one of the numerous board games the owners have left for their guest to enjoy or simply relaxing with a glass of wine and a good book! The luxurious master suite boasts a super king (6ft) bed with matching dressing table and large wardrobe complete with drawers for all your clothes. Off this leads the ensuite bathroom which has a shower over the bath. Two further downstairs bedrooms have been tastefully decorated and each has its own character. They both feature zip and link beds that can be made into either king size doubles or twin beds upon request (please give at least 2 weeks’ notice). They both have plenty of storage for clothes in chests of drawers and ample hanging on the hooks and colourfully covered hangers provided. These rooms are lovely and light with large windows looking over the second of the enclosed gardens but also feature blackout blinds for those all important lay ins! Also on the ground floor is a family wet room with a drencher style shower. The final bedroom is upstairs from the kitchen… called the nursery this huge room has no door separating it from the kitchen, although there has been a stair gate fitted, ideal for keeping an ear on the little ones! The room has been decorated in colourful furniture and accessories, making it a room that children will love and enjoy both for playing and sleeping. This room is also a zip and link so can be made up as a double if required. Outside, the rear of the house has two secure gardens perfect for dogs and children. Barbecue and picnic table for alfresco evenings.The house is completely secure from the moat at the rear, but outside the front of the cottage is a beautiful bridge on which you can stand and spot the odd fish and feed the ducks. There is plenty of space in the permissive parkland around Dairy Cottage for children and dogs (on leads) to run around to their hearts content. Just a short walk away is the fantastic coastal village of Old Hunstanton and its many amenities. Old Hunstanton beach is a 20 minute walk from Dairy Cottage, this beautiful wide sandy beach is a hit with all generations and is home to many brightly coloured beach huts! Close to this is the renowned Hunstanton Golf Course for the serious golfers amongst you, and in the other direction a pitch and putt for the amateurs! Old Hunstanton has a well stocked village shop and post office along with several coastal themed shops and a beach front cafe. There are four pubs and restaurants just a 10 minute walk from Dairy Cottage, including The Lodge which has a great bar menu, a children’s play area, beer garden, pool table and also shows all of the sporting fixtures. Opposite The Lodge is The Neptune; a superb Michelin starred restaurant who serve limited dinners; the most delicious treats from the coast, a must for a special occasion (we recommend booking well in advance). If you want to go exploring further along the coast, the nearest ‘Coasthopper’ bus stop is a 7 minute walk away. This will quickly take you right along the coast to Thornham, Brancaster, Burnham Market, Holkham, Wells, Blakeney and beyond! The quintessential coastal town of Hunstanton is a five minute drive or 20 minute walk; here you can find fish and chip shops galore, the Sealife centre, a permanent fair, crazy golf, the Worlds Largest Joke shop, Chinese and Indian takeaways, a deli, a bakery and the all important supermarkets!
