The Short of it........
The LS Cabin has three bedrooms and two baths. One king-size bed, one queen-size bed, one full-size bed and twin bunk beds, accommodating eight guests. The kitchen is equipped with new cabinets, granite countertops, new dishwasher, new built-in microwave, coffee pot, toaster, cookware, dishes, flatware for eight guests. All rooms are on one level for easy access. We furnish paper goods, soaps, shampoo, dishwasher and laundry tabs, towels/washcloths, fresh sheets for all beds. We clean and maintain the LS Cabin ourselves and we're picky!
The Long of it........
The LS Cabin (we named it after ourselves, we are the Longs) is located at 720 East High Street, Red River, NM 87558. It is on the East side of the town of Red River. When coming into the town from the East, take the right fork prior to the gas pumps, this is High Street. The second house on High Street is the LS Cabin; notice the tiny house beside the cabin. (We will be remodeling the tiny house and making it “The Little Deuce Coupe,” a cabin just for couples.)
The LS Cabin has one huge advantage – it is all on one level. It is ideal for folks that don’t want to or can’t do stairs. The East entrance is one step into the cabin, once in; all is on the same level. The porch is also one level. Looking out the family room west windows, you can see the ski lift. Late evening, watch for the deer to come down to eat the hay with the horses at the stable. In the summer, if you hear banging, it’s probably a bear trying to get into the dumpsters! The LS Cabin is great for a walk through town yet away from of all the noise and Main street commotion for peace and quiet when you are ready to relax.
You may park in the driveway or in front of the cabin. The door on the East side adjacent to the driveway has the keyless lock and is used as the entrance. When you book the LS Cabin, a code to the keyless lock and information on how to use the code will be sent to you by e-mail. Check-in is 3:00 PM and Check-out is 10:00 AM. (These times are necessary in order to get the cabin cleaned prior to the arrival of the next guests.)
We purchased the cabin December 2014 and immediately began remodeling it. The LS Cabin has new kitchen cabinets, granite counter tops, new microwave and dishwasher. We added wood accents and fresh paint and thoroughly cleaned the entire cabin. The cabin is carpeted in the family room and the three bedrooms. Kitchen, dining room and bathrooms are tiled. The master bedroom is spacious with king-size log bed and with a master bathroom adjacent to the bedroom. The master bath has a tub with shower, toilet with a door, the sink vanity and closet separate. The cabin has two additional bedrooms, one with a queen size bed, and a third bedroom, the bunk room, with bunk beds, and a full-size bed, ideal for bunking up the kids. These two bedrooms use the hall bathroom which has tub with shower, vanity sink and commode, with the washer and dryer located in this bathroom. A pac & play is in the master bedroom closet and a high chair in the kitchen for the little guys. The cabin will accommodate eight people comfortably and has beds for eight.
The living area has a flat screen TV with local channels i.e Albuquerque. A few DVD's and adding are also available. We have a number of paperbacks on our book shelves, games, and a couple of decks of cards for quiet times when you are not out and about. We do not have a phone or Wi-Fi in the cabin. We assume everyone these days has a cell phone. AT&T, Verizon work at the cabin, other carriers may also, but we know for sure AT&T and Verizon does. Wi-Fi is available at the library just across the street, usually 3G or better.
The LS Cabin has a washer and dryer for your personal laundry and in case you run out of towels. We furnish laundry tabs and dryer sheets for your convenience. The cabin has a dishwasher and we furnish dishwasher tabs. We also provide towels, linens, and supplies, such as, toilet paper, dishwashing liquid, and trash bags. The cabin has a coffee pot, toaster, crock pot, full set of dishes and silverware for eight people, pots and pans, microwave.
The LS Cabin has a porch for sitting and a covered area for grilling or just relaxing. A grill for cooking out and a table for outdoor eating are under the covered area. Summer nights are cool and after a summer rain shower the temperature can easily get down into the 50s! A sweater feels good!
Please NO SMOKING in the cabin. If you are a smoker, please smoke outside and carefully dispose of all butts. New Mexico has been a drought for more than three years. A careless butt could burn our beautiful forest and our forest would not recover in our lifetimes.
PETS ARE NOT ALLOWED at the LS Cabin. Although your pet may be the most well behaved dog or cat, many people have allergies to dogs and cats. We understand you love your pets but to better accommodate everyone, we must say “no pets allowed.”
Red River has a small grocery store and a number of restaurants. Some of the more popular restaurants require reservations. Red River has a celebration for every holiday and seems to make some holidays up! It is a fun town. At the LS Cabin, you will be close enough to Main Street to walk to all the “doings” yet far enough away to enjoy some quiet relaxing time too.
So you want to stay at the LS Cabin……
You will be charged the nightly rate, plus Gross Receipts/Lodgers Tax, and $125 cleaning/supplies fee and a refundable damage deposit per stay. Most times we have a three (3) night minimum, major holidays a four (4) night minimum. Bag and dispose of your trash at the dumpsters in town. Also, put your dishes in the dishwasher and turn the dishwasher on. Trash or dirty dishes will result in a charge of $25 against your damage deposit. Occasionally, due to commitments, we have to hire cleaning folks to clean the cabin and they don’t like to wash dishes or take out trash, thus the $25 for either one. We clean the LS Cabin most of the time ourselves and we don’t like to do dishes or take out trash either! Any damages will also be charged against your damage deposit. If something doesn’t work properly, tell us and we will take care of it. We have enjoyed remodeling the LS Cabin and have enjoyed staying in town to take part in all the Red River “doings” and believe you will too. JUST A LITTLE MORE.....FYI
We also own and rent the MMM Cabin on Bobcat Pass (VRBO LISTING 562811) and the LDC Cabin beside the LS Cabin. Check out the MMM Cabin if you want to be out of town or the LDC Cabin, a couples cabin, beside the LS Cabin. After retirement and careful thought, we have decided to manage the MMM cabin and the LS Cabin ourselves rather than chose a management company. We believe we can provide our guests with a high quality rental property for less by renting through VRBO. We will not be charging booking fees, however, as I stated above Homeaway/VRBO has now started charging the traveler a service fee. We collect a damage deposit. Charges against your Damage Deposit will be accessed only if you damage something, leave trash, dirty dishes, have a pet in the cabin or smoke in the cabin; otherwise, we gladly refund your damage deposit after cleaning. We have always cleaned and maintained the MMM Cabin and plan to do the same with the LS Cabin. We believe, as owners, we can clean and maintain the cabins with a commitment that most cleaning services do not provide. We want our guests to feel they have received value for vacation rental dollars and as our guests, we want you to be comfortable and feel at ease telling us when something is good and also, when something isn’t. Please keep in mind: VRBO/HOMEAWAY does not collect Lodgers tax. VRBO collects and pays Gross Receipts tax to the state of NM. Therefore, each reservation will be edited to add 5% of the rental amount for Lodgers Tax. The Lodgers tax will show up as "Administration Fee. (VRBO does not have Lodgers tax" to choose when adding Lodgers tax.)
