Coleridge Place is close to the village of Strete near Dartmouth in South Devon. It is situated in one of the most stunning coastal areas in England and a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. Positioned above Slapton Sands and the craggy headland that curves around to Start Point Lighthouse - the property has panoramic sea views over Slapton Sands and Slapton Ley freshwater lagoon. The house is at the end of a private drive and is surrounded by mature gardens and sits within 8 acres of private grounds. A meander through the grounds and a short walk will bring you to the shingle beach at Strete Gate and the award winning beach Blackpool Sands is also nearby. Situated at the mouth of the River Dart is the historic naval port of Dartmouth with it's wealth of galleries, shops, cafes and restaurants. Dartmouth is known for it's narrow streets, overhanging medieval houses and old quays with the historic Mayflower having set sail for the New World America from Bayards Cove. A boat trip up river will take you to Agatha Christie's house "Greenways" and "Coleton Fishacre" once the home of the D'Oyly Carte family is at Kingswear. Further afield the beautiful beaches of Bantham (our local surfing beach) Bigbury and South Milton as well as Salcombe and Hope Cove are all within striking distance. Recently renovated in a style best described as vintage-contemporary Coleridge Place retains an old world charm whilst also providing extremely spacious accommodation with spectacular views from bedrooms and living rooms. Downstairs: Large entrance hall with woodburner (sea views) Large sitting room with woodburner (sea views) Dining room with sea views Sunroom with sea views Large conservatory with sea views - with dining facility Kitchen with breakfast island Utility room Downstairs wc Upstairs: Large master bedroom with en suite dressing room (sea views) Three double bedrooms (sea views) Double bedroom (garden view) Twin bedroom (ideal for children) Large shower room with double access (can be ensuite or shared) Two bathrooms with over bath showers Cloakroom with wc Outside: Table and chairs for 12 Several benches dotted around Fire pit - wood supplied Barbeque Holiday Guests will have full use of the house and 8 acres of grounds (with the exception of Coleridge Lodge at the end of the drive which is also available for holiday letting - ref 8049902). Further refurbishment is planned with out-buildings and the exterior of the house still awaiting some attention and a small part of the East wing of the house (three rooms) is closed off awaiting renovation - the weekly rental price has been reduced to reflect this. For 10 to 12 people this is an ideal opportunity to grab a bargain - shorter lets of 4 days may also be available so please enquire. We are unable to accommodate parties/stag or hen events - and our rules are no pets and no smoking.
