This oh-so-sweet vintage cottage is situated within steps of a sandy beach edging the eastern shore of the beautiful, nine-mile Schroon Lake! This rustic home is a direct lakefront rental, without any roads to cross. It's a fabulous, affordable getaway in a quiet neighborhood, perfect for rekindling romance, relaxing in the summer on the screened-in porch (complete with a swing), or spending quality time with loved ones. There's also a firepit on-site where you can spend time together under the stars. This charming cottage also boasts three ceiling fans for your comfort.
With access to a vast, 40-foot dock (with a 34-foot tee), you're welcome to use the home's rowboat, kayaks, or canoe to explore the lake. Relax on the private, sandy, level beach, perfect for sunbathing or playing with the kids. Or pull up an Adirondack chair along the waterfront and just watch the boats go by.

Summary: This cabin was everything we hoped it would be. Small, rustic, on the water with a beach, shared dock, TWO fire pits outside, pretty much empty the week after the Labor Day rush, & had an awesome screen porch. As a bonus, there was enough cookware for 3 kitchens in there. The only two negatives were the heating/fireplace situation and the bathroom. The bathroom was pretty small which was not a big deal, but the shower was extremely small with little to no water pressure at the faucet head. You also needed to take into account the hot water tank was not going to last for two people taking showers back to back on top of washing dishes. I'll take the blame on that one, never saw photos of the bathroom and never looked into it further before booking. The listing mentioned heat and a fireplace. In reality there was no "heating system", instead there was a space heater meant for a small room we found under a side table. As expected it was getting cool at night in September, which would not have been an issue if the beautiful (and prominently featured in the listing pictures) stone fireplace was functional. I went to start setting up a fire one of the first couple nights and it was pretty obvious it hadn't been used in a long time. A decorative multi candle stand was where the iron basket/grate should have been, and there were the remains of what looked like a bird that got trapped in there at some point. So that was the end of that plan. For two people that kayak, fish, love outdoor recreation in general, and are more often tent camping than staying in a cabin, this place was amazing. Those two drawbacks mentioned above were more than made up for by everything else it had going for it. I can't even say I wouldn't rent the same place again. As long as you're able to deal with the small shower and lack of heating you are going to love this cabin and location.
