Lake Oconee family retreat at Lakeside Hideaway | House in Buckhead

4 Bedroom House in Buckhead
Lakeside Hideaway hosted by St James Vacation Homes
With 300 feet of shoreline and 100 acres of bordering timberland that are home to a variety of wildlife, it's no wonder that we named this 4-bedroom, 2-bath home “Lakeside Hideaway at Deer Track.” This 2-story retreat is tucked away on a coveted fishing cove and makes the most of its private location by complementing the surrounding natural beauty with plenty of outdoor spaces. Inside, comfort and amenities welcome guests who appreciate lakeside seclusion but with modern conveniences.
The unique location of this getaway begins on a half-mile gravel road shaded by forest. A gate opens to a circular drive with ample parking for multiple vehicles. Guests may enter through doors on both floors, each equipped with a keyless entry. Inside awaits four bedrooms: a king master and queen guest on the upper floor and a king guest downstairs plus a fourth bedroom with a queen and twin bunk. All beds (including bunks) are topped with memory foam mattresses to ensure a peaceful night's sleep. The upstairs master offers private views of Lake Oconee and a separate entrance to the overlooking screened deck. Its generous size accommodates a king bed flanked by two nightstands and tables, Eames-inspired sitting chair with ottoman, luggage rack, wall-mounted flatscreen TV with Roku soundbar, dresser, and a double-sided stone fireplace with ambient candelabra. A private entrance to the shared full bath puts a jetted garden tub, step-in tiled shower, and double sink vanity within just feet of the master bedroom. The adjacent bedroom boasts a queen bed, loveseat, luggage rack, and access to the stairs leading to the lower level.
Also on the main level is a fully stocked kitchen with refrigerator/freezer, microwave, smooth stovetop oven, dishwasher, drip coffee maker, toaster, air fryer, blender, slow cooker, and plentiful cookware and serving ware. A dining table seats four, and there are four counter-height barstools for additional company. A nearby high-top table accommodates two more. An open floor plan allows for easy traffic flow from the kitchen to the great room, where guests kick back on the reclining sofa and loveseat while streaming from the flatscreen TV with Roku soundbar.
The lower level provides two more generously sized bedrooms. The king room offers lakeside views, a plush king bed, nightstands with lamps, luggage rack, closet, sitting chair with ottoman, and flatscreen TV with Roku. The adjacent bedroom sleeps up to four in a queen bed and twin bunk – perfect for a family or for kids to have their own space! Both bedrooms have access to a full bath with single vanity and shower. The downstairs lounge area is thoughtfully designed with an oversized sectional, flatscreen TV, dining table and chairs for six, futon, and a cabinet stocked with board games, cards, and Wii games and controllers. Underneath the floating staircase are additional indoor/outdoor game sets. A laundry room is also on standby with a full-size washer/dryer and utility sink.
While indoor comforts beg you to stay, it's the outside scenery that does the loudest talking. A screened upper deck with four cozy teak chairs (two for rocking), tabletop seating for six, and the Southern staple of porch ceiling fans are at the ready. This is the place to be on quiet mornings, cool nights, and lazy rainy afternoons. Uncovered deck with gas grill and bench seating are accessible from both the screened porch and kitchen entry. On the lower level is a terrace with string lights, teak lounge chairs, and tableside seating for four. For those who truly want to sit underneath the stars, an open-air deck with bench seating can be accessed directly from the terrace or by stairs from the upper deck. A few steps away is a firepit perfect for s'mores and stories that might be *ahem* slightly exaggerated.
A paved walkway leads past a tree swing and toward the private dock that's equipped with plenty of cleats for tying watercraft. Anglers will love the unlimited fishing on a quiet cove, and the exceptional location puts guests in calmer waters just off one of the main arteries of Lake Oconee. Around the corner (a literal 5-minute ride), Sugar Creek Marina provides a boat launch, convenience store, and some of the best breakfast biscuits, grouper sandwiches, and fried chicken in Lake Country. Within a short drive is Harmony Crossing, home to popular cafes, restaurants, and boutiques. Travel north on Highway 44 to stock up at Publix, enjoy breakfast at Café 44, or try one of the blends from PJ's Coffee of New Orleans. We also recommend visiting the historic districts of downtown Eatonton and downtown Greensboro. Both have mom-and-pop cafes, restaurants, and retail stores that are locally owned and operated. Be sure to check area events, festivals, and farmer's markets, too!
