Located on beautiful Lake Leelanau, 11 darling cottages share 400 ft. of shoreline, along with a mini-harbor, sandy beach, fire pits and a playground. The entire property is meticulously maintained, quiet and serene. Pull up in front of Cottage #1 (look for the cheerful green shutters!) and you'll find a cozy respite, perfect for a family or a couple looking for a romantic Northern Michigan escape. Cottage No. 1 features two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other with two twins. There is a double-size futon in the living room. The single bathroom has a shower stall, single sink and toilet. GUESTS MUST SUPPLY THEIR OWN SHEETS & TOWELS, as well as paper products. Brew your morning coffee in the cozy kitchen while you look over the calm morning lake. Step onto the patio where you'll find a picnic table and gas grill awaiting your first cookout. You're literally steps from the beach where you can enjoy an evening glass of wine while you watch the sun set over the lake. Be sure to bring along marshmallows and graham crackers for s'mores around the fire pit after dinner! Our mini-harbor was reconstructed in 2015 with a wider opening and seawall, and each cottage is assigned its own slip. Perfect to take advantage of the amazing fishing and boating on Lake Leelanau! While West Wind Resort is the perfect spot for a summer vacation, it's also a fantastic getaway destination in the off season. Come in the fall to enjoy the spectacular show of autumn color, local farm stands and scenic drives. And in the winter, this 4-season cottage is a cozy destination after a day of skiing or snowshoeing. It's also a great base camp for hunters and fisherman, year 'round. Traverse City's area wineries, microbreweries and farm-to-table dining options are also available throughout the year. The Leelanau Peninsula alone boasts some 30+ wineries and tasting rooms, while the Wineries of Old Mission Peninsula continue to add to their number each year. You will be amazed by not only the quality of the wine, but the jaw-dropping views of East and West Grand Traverse Bays that many of the wineries provide. For those outdoor recreation enthusiasts, the region is chock full of hiking and biking trails, as well as nearly endless opportunities for kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding. The nearby Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is a true "bucket list" experience that you and your family will cherish as a lifelong memory.
