Cute lake cottage on Gardner Lake, 3 miles north of Gardner, Kansas. Near New Century. This is our personal getaway, and is fully outfitted for your stay, however long that might be. This is a great place for a fun family weekend, a relaxing getaway, or just an awesome alternative to a boring hotel for your trip to Johnson County. This property has about 115 feet of lakefront with a gradual slope into the water for swimming, a private dock, and water craft including 2 kayaks and canoe. The lake: Gardner Lake is a beautiful little lake that meanders for over 1 mile. The lake allows any sort of boat, but no-wake, so it's great for a pontoon cruise, fishing, and sailing, but there are no loud & disruptive party boats or jet skis. It's a wonderfully peaceful lake for canoeing and kayaking, and is a good fishing lake (bass, crappie, catfish). The fishing is good right off our dock! The lake and the original homes were built in the 1930s, with lots of tear-downs and new construction since then. So, there's a mix of properties on the lake, ranging from old fishing shacks to new million-dollar homes. It's an interesting piece of Johnson County history, and is a real gem! Outside the house: We've put a lot of money and energy into creating a very usable lakefront property. Deluxe firepit, large patio, covered porch, hardscape, rebuilt dock, etc. Deluxe patio furniture and umbrella. Garage is NOT accessible to VRBO guests. Hot tub on the porch, looking out on the lake! Canoe and 2 kayaks are provided for your use (including life jackets). The house: Clean, well-furnished, simple cottage. Newer (2015) paint & floors throughout, new (2017) bedroom furniture and mattresses, all other furniture very clean and well-maintained. Light and bright with skylights and windows facing the lake. Small 2 bedroom place with one small bathroom. Laundry room. New TV & DVD player. Cable & Wi-Fi. No dishwasher. Sheets & towels are provided, including dish towels, hand towels, and beach towels, as well as shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the shower. We are clean and tidy people, and this house reflects that, as again, this is primarily our personal family getaway. The neighbors: This section of the lake is fully developed, with neighbors on each side of us. We know and like our neighbors, and want to respect them as we make our cottage available for rental guests. We will expect quiet enjoyment of our property, with no parties allowed. Nearby Gardner: This property is located just 3 miles north of Gardner. Gardner is a nice town with several very good local restaurants, a nice little downtown and great coffee shop, and all the necessities (Walmart, groceries, etc.).
