A hand built luxury wooden cabin set in the hills above the coastal town of Almuñecar in the beautiful Andalucian countryside amongst fruit plantations and wild almond trees overlooking the stunning Costa Tropical and the deep blue Mediterranean, La Cabaña Tranquila with its spacious private pool terrace offers a unique rural getaway to relax, rejuvenate and cleanse away the stresses of working life. La Cabaña Tranquila enjoys the sunshine and blue sky from the early Spring all the way through to the very late Autumn, a perfect all year round destination for outdoor living!
Located on an organic country small holding with organic vegetable gardens, a wide variety of organic tropical fruit trees and organically reared free range hens, La Cabaña Tranquila is a 40 m2 wooden cabin with 1 double bedroom with a private sun terrace, a twin bedroom convertible to double, a comfortable and stylish modern kitchen with dining and lounge area and a quality shower and toilet room, all with stunning views from the windows over the Valle Tropical to the south and the Mediterranean Sea.
The interior of La Cabaña Tranquila is sympathetically decorated and hand finished with a rustic and homely feel, simply done with care and love. La Cabaña Tranquila exterior has a large private terrace with swimming pool, handmade grass woven sun umbrellas with quality sun-loungers, a fully equipt barbecue area with a traditional Andalucian wood fired oven together with bar area and fridge with the envious shade of an Algorrobo tree to relax away from the summer midday sun.
La Cabaña Tranquila is located in the fertile Barranco Matachina, which translates to the gully of shingle, with its fresh water stream that trickles and bubbles through our land. Visitors are welcome to wander our organic small holding to pick our organic fruit seasonally, from oranges, mandarins and apples to avocados and mangoes. Organic free range eggs from our hens and artisan bread locally made in the hills in a traditional moorish wood burning oven are also available.
La Cabaña Tranquila is situated 20 minutes from the coastal town of Almuñecar, a small and traditional seaside town popular with Spanish tourists in the summer months. Almuñecar boasts long beaches and promenades with lots of bars and restaurants specialising in fresh caught local fish. The white washed old town has a catacomb of alleys with lots of shops and a local daily food market and has a very typical Spanish feel. There is also a weekly Friday mixed market to enjoy. To the west is Malaga with it's beautiful old town and ancient Alcazaba and Malaga airport with international connections to all over Europe. To the North is the ancient Moorish city of Granada with the extraordinary Alhambra Palace, Summer Palace and gardens to explore.
For lovers of the outdoors, mountain biking and hiking, La Cabaña Tranquila offers many trails and tracks right from the front door from half hour wanders to full day hikes and rides, close by are the national parks of Parque Natural Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama and the famous Sierra Nevada with the highest peak on mainland Spain of Mulacen at 3479m, a two day hike with an overnight stay at a refugio. Also to be explored are the beautiful traditional villages of Las Alpujarras with their picturesque white houses and flat slate roofs, traditional fare restaurants, local jamon and cheese shops and local craft outlets selling hand made pottery and carpets.
Visitors to La Cabaña Tranquila need to have a car as we are situated away from public transport, although there is a taxi company that will serve our area, the road from the coast is very well maintained and changes to a country road that changes to a track without asphalt for the last 200 meters, but is easily passable for standard cars.
La Cabaña Tranquila is a rural retreat to relax, recuperate and rejuvenate, to escape the realities and technologies of modern life and get back to the basics, disregarding the hectic pressures of modern lifestyles. A place without distractions or interruptions. There is a quality music system to connect to via cable or Bluetooth. Unlimited Internet is included in the rental price during high season, but is an extra cost at all other times, please enquire to check if internet is included in your rental period. With the special design and positioning of La Cabaña Tranquila and our limited electricity supply, La Cabaña Tranquila is cooled with old fashioned airflow provided with remote control room fans but does have air conditioning as well.
I have friendly dogs and three inquisitive cats that are free to wander our land, they are a part of the country life of La Cabaña Tranquila but are loving and friendly and do not make a nuisance of themselves
