Positive: The property was very clean and set it a beautiful location. The swimming pool was lovely and the food here was great. The room was very lovely and good views from the balcony. The ‘trainees’ (they did not have a name on their name tag) could not do enough to help us, they were brilliant throughout our stay.
Negative: Reception staff weren’t particularly friendly when we arrived, felt like we were looked up and down as we had backpacks with us and dismissed very quickly. At dinner we felt like we were being pushed into purchasing expensive bottles of champagne as they hotel were aware it was our honeymoon and upon asking if it was possible for a late checkout (as this has been part of the deal on my booking.com genius account) we were told the hotel was fully booked the next night, so they couldn’t accommodate despite me checking if I could book into the hotel the next day and it showing they had lots of availability. So some of the staff just really didn’t live up to the friendliness of everywhere else we had been in Sri Lanka. Also our sink was blocked, so there was a bad smell in our bathroom.
Summary: Lovely hotel, with great views - questionable treatment from some staff.
