If you are wanting the best of both worlds both native forest and near to the beach, this is the ideal spot for you. There is mobile reception in the log cabin boosted on wi-fi through vodafone though outside the cabin you have a reprieve from technology Kahiwi log cabin is situated amongst New Zealand native bush in a tranquil setting yet 15 minutes from some of the best beaches in New Zealand. Pauanui and Tairua are 15 minutes away and Whangamata is 30 minutes. Hot water beach and Cathedral Cove are easy driving distance from the log cabin and scuba and fishing charters operate from Tairua. For the bikers there is a ride to Pauanui via the wetland's trail and just down the road is the gorgeous Puketui Valley Rd gravel road ride beside the Thames river. For the trampers there is Golden Hills and Broken Hills mine and of course the Pinnacles walk 30 minutes start from there.On your return look up at the majestic Pinnacles and remember where you have travelled. For a refreshing mind, body and soul this is perfect. Access is by 4WD only or by foot or bike. The log cabin shares the 12 hectare grounds with the occasional visitor to the survival hut-Tree Hut Hang Out at the back. Kahiwi is a perfect place to unwind, refresh and revitalise surrounded by New Zealand bush. Note the property is not suitable for young children as the mezzanine above does not have safety rails and the log cabin is within easy access to the stream with a higher edge on one side. Special conditions: A 4 WD is needed or larger wheeled vehicle. There is no parking outside, you must cross the tiny stream. Kahiwi strives to be a guardian to its surrounds and wildlife. All care should be taken to preserve this unique setting with removal of rubbish and care for the environment. There is an Onion Creek noise control of 10pm. There is no toleration of noisy people. Please walk quietly to the waterfall. No vehicles beyond 205 as it is a private road. NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to: Clean the house and do the dishes before you leave; Bring your own linen (towels/sheets/tea towels);
