Minimum two nights stay please. $145 per night for two adult guests. Possibly unique in the Southern Hemisphere as the home frontage is in the Pacific Ocean at high tide. Situated on the southern side of the northern arm, of North Cove, on Kawau Island. North west facing and benefits from the luxury of full sun from mid morning onward till sunset. SANDSPIT CAR PARK The parking here is $12 per 24 hour period. It is electronic and has camera read number plate facility. It is a machine only pay, near the exit, and payment is required using your Rego number, prior to returning to your vehicle. It does take coins but credit card is very easy. OUR JETTY The jetty, attached to the house, can be used for arrivals and departures approximately one to two hours either side of the high tide. It is imperative to coordinate the tide, for arrivals and departures. WATER TAXI Please google "summer shuttle timetable kawau cruises" to see timetables. In most cases we can organise your trip over and back on our concession card rate, which, at the moment, is $25 per person per one way trip. Our jetty, "Wilsons Jetty" attached to the house, can be used for arrivals and departures by the Water Taxi approximately one hour either side of the high tide. It is imperative to coordinate the tide and the ferry, for arrivals and departures. THE PONTOON If not enough tide for the water taxi, but still enough for a dinghy then there is an option to be let off at the Pontoon, and to row from there using the pontoon dinghy. TAKING YOUR OWN BOAT. Please beware of the tidal nature of Moana Cove. All aluminium boats can be left at our jetty when the tide go's out. Wooden, fibreglass or fixed keel boats can utilise the back side of the Pontoon at the entrance to the Cove, or can use our mooring. NC 51. This is just to the right of the big all tide jetty, which is just to the right of the big Pontoon in North Cove. Please let us know POWER On arrival please turn all four switches on on the meter box which is downstairs, just to the right as you enter.. One of them is the hot water. On leaving please turn off the same four switches. THE KITCHEN The bread maker is simple to use if you want or need to have fresh bread. Just buy a packet of "Lacke' bread mix, from Countown Supermarket, and following the directions on the packet. You will find plunger coffee, instant coffee, sugar, tea, salt and pepper and cooking oil. Please let us know if anything runs short. If you use the BBQ please make sure it is left clean. BREAKAGES Please let us know of any accidental breakages, so we can replace. BEDDING AND TOWELS. There is a king bed in the upstairs bedroom. Please take your own sheets, pillow cases, and a couple of towels for yourselves . TV Please turn on using the Samsung remote. The TV itelf must be on HDM12/DVD, which can be accessed through the 'SOURCE" button on the Samsung remote. Then you can view the free to view and we have some sky channels. INTERNET We can pick up 3G and 4G on the island most of the time. The dining room table is the best place for reception. ROADS There are no roads in North Cove , so there are no cars. TRACKS The section is three quarters of an acre. There are walking tracks up to the ridge behind the house, then along the ridge to Vivian Bay and beyond. LOCATION SPECIAL FEATURES Just feel, and soak up the peace and the quiet, (you can almost hear it), and completely forget about whatever it was that bothered you in Auckland. Listen to the sound of the tui's, wood pigeons, Weka, rosellas, seagulls, and the odd distant call of the kookaburras. Feed the sprats off the balcony at high tide, and watch the stingrays glide up the Cove and back with the ebb and flow of the tide. As we say, "Too much 'serenity', so close to Auckland". Once there, you are virtually in another time and place. FIRE IS OUR SINGLE BIGGEST DANGER AND THREAT. THERE ARE NO ROADS, OR FIRE BRIGADE. SO PLEASE BE EXTRA VIGILANT WITH MATCHES, CANDLES, BBQ SMOKING. NO SMOKING INSIDE, OUTSIDE TOLERATED BUT DOUBLY ENSURE THAT ALL BUTTS ARE OUT. NEIGHBOURS Total respect for our neighbours at ALL times Please do not use any of the other jetty's on the Island, (except in emergencies). They are all privately owned, and respect for this fact, is valued and appreciated. WATER We are on septic tank, so water is valuable. Please only toilet paper down the Loo, AND THEN AS SPARINGLY AS POSSIBLE. If too much paper is used it can block the pipe to the Septic Tank, and then there is all sorts of unwanted issues, as you can imagine. KAYAK and DINGHY The kayak and the oars are in the shed downstairs, as are the dinghy oars. WARNING. WARNING. There are three piles of rocks/oysters you will see at low tide, about one hundred to one hundred and fifty meters away from the house, roughly in a line between the house and the pontoon. These are just submerged at HIGH TIDE, so please eyeball where they are at low tide, and then steer clear when kayaking around the cove at high tide. RUBBISH Please take all rubbish back to the mainland with you. There are rubbish bags in the cupboard by the inside fridge. Back at Sandspit the rubbish can be dumped in the big bins by the car park.
