Indigo Seas is a tropical, secluded two bedroom, two bathroom cottage overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The cottage is approximately 250 feet from the water, and elevated by about 70 feet, providing a spectacular, 180 degree, unobstructed view of the ocean.
Situated on Ocean Drive in Rainbow Bay on the island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas, there are many beautiful beaches nearby, including Rainbow Bay Beach on the sheltered 'Caribbean' side of the island. Rainbow Bay Beach is one of the best beaches on the island, is calm and shallow, offers great snorkeling, and provides shaded picnic tables and benches. Indigo Seas is also within walking distance of the Atlantic side beaches Smuggler's Beach, Hidden Beach, Twin Beach and Come & Go Beach, and chances are good that you will have all of them entirely to yourselves. Ocean Drive is a quiet, scenic road that runs parallel to the ocean for several miles, perfect for walking or jogging.
Indigo Seas has front and back decks to enjoy the fantastic, panoramic views of the ocean from James Point in the South to Harbour Island in the North. You can relax on the deck and watch the cruise ships go by. The island is only a half mile wide at this spot, so you have easy access to both the Atlantic and Caribbean sides.
The front door opens onto an open plan kitchen and dining area. Beyond is the living room, connected by french doors to the full width back deck overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The master bedroom off of the living room has a full view of the ocean and both bedrooms have cross breezes from ample windows on two sides and large ceiling and floor fans. The house is furnished with natural wicker that stands on a varnished plank floor. Large overhead fans accentuate the tray ceilings throughout the house. All your living is contained on one floor with three step access from the driveway to the front deck and front door.
The house is connected to town water and also has a 10,000 gallon rainwater cistern under the deck as a backup water supply. Water outages are not uncommon in the out islands so a backup water supply is essential.
Our central location on Eleuthera provides for convenient sightseeing on this 110 mile long island, and day trips to Lighthouse Beach at the southern tip or Harbour Island and Spanish Wells at the northern tip. Short flights from Miami or Fort Lauderdale in Florida (45 minutes), Atlanta, Charlotte, and Nassau (15 minutes) arrive at Governor's Harbour airport (GHB) 15 minutes to the south, and North Eleuthera airport (ELH) 35 minutes to the north. There is also a ferry available from Nassau. Rental cars or taxis are readily available at the airport. Grocery stores, restaurants, gas stations, and beverage stores are all within a 5-10 minute drive. The nearby Rainbow Inn has some of the best food on the island, as well as a bar and live music.
Eleuthera is known for it's pristine and deserted pink sand beaches and it's friendly out island charm. Tourists are well received on the island, and there is very little crime, so you can enjoy your stay and explore this historic island with no concerns for safety.
