This pretty detached stone cottage is a short walk from stunning Lake Vyrnwy with its impressive stone-built Victorian dam and surrounding RSPB nature reserve. Lovingly restored and furnished by the owners, the cottage still retains lots of traditional character and charm including beams, wooden floor boards and a large inglenook, complimented by a wood burning stove, a well equipped kitchen and modern conveniences. Nestling amongst private terraced gardens which include plenty of space to relax together with a summerhouse, the cottage sits on the edge of woodland and affords fantastic views over the Vyrnwy Valley. An ideal place for those seeking relaxation, the surrounding Welsh countryside offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities with something for the most energetic outdoor enthusiast including mountain biking, sailing, kayaking and river-rafting, along with more sedate pursuits such as fishing and bird watching. Bike hire is available locally at the nearby craft and visitors centre and sailing dinghies and canoes can also be rented from the boathouse on the lake. This area is superb for bird watchers being an RSPB reserve where numerous resident and migratory birds can be spotted including rare peregrine falcons. There are several bird-hides positioned around the lake which also offers good opportunities for salmon and trout fishing (permits available locally), along with boating.
