Welcome to Osea Island, a remote holiday resort situated in the estuary of the River Blackwater in Essex. Boasting an array of onsite facilities, the island is the perfect staycation destination for holidaymakers looking to enjoy a fun-filled family getaway. All properties are self-catered. Honeypot Cottage offers 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a living room, a kitchen & a dining area. Sleeps up to 4 guests. Osea Island adopts strict social distancing & cleaning policies to ensure your safety. The Space: LIVING ROOM: Located on the ground floor, the rustic living room is furnished with a sofa, 2 armchairs, a coffee table, a flat-screen TV and a fireplace. KITCHEN & DINING: Located on the ground floor, the kitchen is fully-equipped and includes a kettle, a toaster, a microwave, an oven and hobs. The dining area can seat up to 4 guests. Please note that Osea Island is entirely self catered with no access to shops or restaurants, therefore please bring lots of food, snacks and drinking water. BEDROOM & BATHROOM: The first bedroom is located on the ground floor and is furnished with a double bed. The second bedroom is located on the first floor and is also furnished with a double bed. Guest Access: Guests will have access to the entire home alongside the communal facilities on the island. Interaction with Guests: We will ensure that there is someone onsite upon your arrival to welcome you, give you keys and help you settle in with a quick tour of the property. We also have residential staff on the island, both housekeepers and maintenance, available to assist you during your stay. They will be able to assist you with the best walks, bird watching, fishing and star gazing spots. The Neighborhood: Osea Island is a unique and exclusive destination, perfect for families and groups of friends looking to enjoy a fun-filled getaway. The island boasts a wide range of activities to enjoy throughout your stay. As well as the outdoor swimming pool, there is a fleet of bicycles at your disposal, a croquet lawn, a football pitch, a tennis court, mini golf, fishing and sea swimming. The island is also great for couples or solo-travellers looking to relax and unwind amidst the tranquillity and serenity. Exploring the island is one of the primary activities our guests enjoy, as it is a fascinating place to get out and about. Other activities such as sailing can be booked in advance upon request, please get in touch if this is something you are interested in. At the centre of the village is The Clubhouse, a colonial-style former chapel complete with a games room and facilities which can be booked for family occasions or private dining. The Clubhouse also doubles up as a social hub where you can pick up a fishing rod or take a bicycle to go off and explore the far corners of the island. It backs onto large gardens with a heated swimming pool but still remains only a stones’ throw from the beaches and coastline. Getting Around: Osea Island is a tidal island and is accessible via a mile-long tidal road for a 4 hour period every 12 hours when the tide is low. At high tide, access is possible by water taxi. During daylight hours, access is possible by helicopter. A Tide Time chart and specific driving instructions will be provided once your booking has been confirmed. If you're travelling by car, the postcode for satellite navigation is CM9 4SA. If you're travelling by train, Witham Station is approximately a 20-minute taxi away from the island. The cost of a taxi from the Station to Osea is £40. The closest international airport is Stansted Airport. It is approximately 40 minutes away by car. The water taxi costs £60 each way. If coming from the mainland, it leaves from Heybridge basin. Cars can be parked at Heybridge basin car park (Daisy Meadows) and you can pick up the cars when it is low tide again, or if departing from the island. If departing from the island, the water taxi picks you up from the beach outside the Manor House. It can take up to 6 people but numbers may be reduced if bringing luggage with you. Helicopters can be accommodated across the island. Please notify us of any anticipated arrival via helicopter. We would need to establish contact with the pilot or charter company before your journey. Other Things to Note: We look forward to receiving your booking inquiry. We recommend purchasing as much of your required groceries as you can before you arrive, however Ocado will cross the causeway and deliver to the island if you select a one-hour delivery window which falls within the low tide. For events, parties and celebrations, do get in touch as we can provide catering. WiFi is available in most properties on the island and is powered by mobile 4G routers. Due to our remote location, the WiFi can occasionally prove temperamental. We would ask guests to please refrain from using the WiFi for streaming purposes. Osea Island supplies firewood/logs for any property that include a working fireplace or wood burner. Outside barbecues are permitted and guests may bring their own. The heated outdoor swimming pool is open from April - October. Kindly note that the clubhouse does NOT provide any food or beverage services.
