Listed farmhouse next to an attractive new building
Our property, a historical estate of over 6 hectares, more than 300 olive trees and plenty of forest, is at an altitude of about 300 metres above the Arno Valley, affording a great view. Geographically it is situated about halfway between Florence and Livorno, providing an excellent starting point for day trips. Florence, Prato and Pistoia in the east, Lucca, Pisa and Livorno in the west, Vinci, San Miniato, San Gimignano, Volterra and Siena in the south are all within easy access. The coastal area near Viareggio or Pisa is ideal for time by the seaside. The north is characterised by an enormous hilly and forested area, stretching as far as the Abetone ski resort. The nearby hill towns such as Massa, Cozzile, Colle and Montecatini Alto etc. are worth a visit and of course the nearby Montecatini Terma with its beautiful parks.
About 45 years ago, a Swiss art enthusiast and lawyer took over the rather dilapidated estate. One of her daughters and especially her husband, a qualified Swiss architect, renovated the existing historical farmhouse over the years, creating a holiday home in a house rich in history. A chic new building has been built to the south of the historical farmhouse, also available to guests. Holiday guests can therefore choose between the historical farmhouse for seven people, with a modern kitchen and a generous bathroom, or a very rational new building for three people, with a modern kitchen, a shower and a toilet. Groups can of course also book both buildings, subject to availability.
Our buildings lie within very natural surroundings. Guests do not need to consider any neighbours and can enjoy fresh air, deep and healthy sleep. Encounters with nature are possible, as there are deer, stags and also wild boar in our forest. Guests can also sample the fruit from our trees, which is not yet harvested systematically. The landscape design around the buildings is not yet complete and improvements are still envisaged.
The large viewing terrace above the new building is a popular outdoor space, also welcome in rainy weather. On the west side of the new building there is an outdoor shower.
The maintenance of our land is ensured by a local specialist. We do not cultivate park-like surroundings, but adhere to the essentials of an agricultural enterprise. So sometimes the surrounding grass is very long and is only cut at the end of summer. Guests are welcome to access these areas, with boots recommended as footwear.
