Location description : Porec is a museum town in the truest sense of the word. Although its origins go back to prehistoric times, it only developed into an important centre in Roman times. Very early on, at the end of the 3rd century, it was the first Istrian town to become a bishop's see. The Middle Ages left behind valuable evidence. Under Austrian rule, Porec became the capital of Istria, where the Istrian regional parliament met from 1861.
