Unplug from the world and enjoy the peace and serenity of country living 40 acres of country land with a historical three bedroom farm house with one and a half bath. On the property is a gorgeous orchard including two pear trees, several apple trees, blueberry bushes, and seven sisters climbing roses. There is a small shed beside the house that can be used during the summer as a garden shed. Included in the farm house is a sun room, large living area, dining room, kitchen, and a den. The upstairs of the home has three bedrooms and a full bath. The Master bedroom is the "Corporal Jason Dunham" theme. This is a military/USA themed room. Cpl Jason Dunham was from Scio, New York (approximately 20 minute drive from the residence). He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for actions while serving with 3rd Battalion 7th Marines during the Iraq War. While on a patrol in Husaybah, his unit was attacked and he deliberately covered an enemy grenade with his helmet and then himself to save nearby Marines. When it exploded Dunham was gravely injured and died eight days later. One will see in the Master bedroom a signed (by Deb and Dan Dunham [ his parents]) picture of Jason Dunham with the Navy ship (USS Jason Dunham) that was named after him along with the four men that he saved. To learn more about Jason L. Dunham please see the following link. The second room is dedicated to Suzy Jones Pire who was the first person to make meals for the wounded warriors at L.E.E.K. Mountain Preserve located in Oswayo, Pennsylvania. The Jason L. Dunham warrior barracks was Suzy's Grandfather's garage. Suzy fought a long battle with cancer and it took her life at the young age of 43. There is a scholarship fund set up in Suzy's name at Oswayo Valley High School and a yearly run will take place and all of the proceeds will be given to this scholarship fund. The run will start at this residence. The third room is dedicated to D. Frances Ripley who was born in 1920. Francie was commissioned by the State of New York due to her special ability and talent for sewing to recreate Martha Washington's original Purple Heart as it was disintegrating under the glass. Francie with her extraordinary ability was able to recreate the Purple Heart with the same material used by Martha Washington. One can see this Purple Heart at Peebles Island which is the headquarters which are in charge of the all the historic sites in the US. Francie has done many reproduction sewing for the Historical Society. One is historically documented, the original is in the archives of the National Hall of Purple Heart in Windsor New York near Kingston. New York set up the National Purple Heart Hall of Fame. Any recipient is held there. LEEK has her reproduction of the Purple Heart. Francie was a volunteer for more than 15 years and did work for Mills Mansion (the governor), redid the ceremonial office drapes (gold embroidery) which were 6 windows with velvet drapes. Francie was a 30 year member of the Embroiderers Guild which consisted of 26 girls and 13 that stitched and she was one that was chosen. Francie was blessed enough to have been able to travel after she retired from the VA Laboratory as a Urologist. Francie traveled to China twice, Hawaii, Alaska, Panama Canal, The Horn at bottom of south America, within 500 miles of north pole, Iceland, France, England, Italy, Ireland, Scotland, Egypt, Jerusalem, has been to the tomb of Jesus Christ, and Nazareth. A General in China needed fighters to fight a war he was trying to unite China and he constructed all the fighters from Turkey and won the war and the fighters stayed on in Arunchi, and was able to have been lucky enough to witness this amazing feat. There is a fully functional kitchen with a refrigerator, stove, and sink with a small breakfast nook. Washer and Dryer are also available in the full bathroom upstairs. Home is fully furnished with seasonal decorations, furniture, dishes, utensils, toiletries, and cleaning supplies. Hunters are welcome!
