Positive: A charming old villa that has been lovingly restored in a sometimes quirky way by the owners, Carol and Sam. They are an exceptionally warm and friendly couple who go out of their way to be helpful. Comfortable beds, good linen, modern kitchen and bathroom, and heaps of comfortable chairs and couches. It's also only 5 minutes from the Kaiti hill historic reserve with its Captain Cook memorial and some amazing Maori artwork.
Negative: We could not fault our stay. We were very happy on our 3 nights staying there. The villa is located in a poorer part of town, but don't let this put you off. The locals are friendly and you may get the bonus of hearing children at the local school singing waiata in the mornings.
