Located just 5 miles from the Parks Highway & Sheep Creek Lodge in the Caswell Lakes area, this newly built 1600 square foot "cabin" is located in the heart of Alaska recreation country. This fully furnish home is complete with running water, septic, electricity and internet. Cabin is cozy and comfortable with great amenities. Anchorage: 2 hours south, Willow: 15 miles south, Talkeetna: 30 miles north, Denali Park entrance: 120 miles to the north. The home includes a complete kitchen with electric range, microwave, refrigerator/freezer and is stocked with a full set of dishes, utensils, cookware and basic staples such as sugar, flour, spices, coffee, hot chocolate, and condiments (ketchup, mustard, mayo). A full-sized bathroom includes a shower, toilet, and large vanity. Shampoo, body wash, towels, wash cloths, and hair dryer are provided for guests. A high-efficiency front-loading washer and dryer with laundry detergent also provided for guests. One large upstairs loft is outfitted with four twin beds, the other loft is outfitted with air hockey table and two twin bedss. Extra pillows and blankets are available in storage areas upstairs. Pack ’n Play/travel crib available as well. The large, private, upstairs bedroom is furnished with one queen bed, side table, dresser, and TV with Roku player (Netflix, channel streaming, etc.) The main living room has a full-sized leather couch, sofa hide-a-bed, and two arm chairs. The cabin is heated by a Toyo oil stove in the fall-winter-spring, which is set around 60 to keep the cabin warm, but you can adjust the temperature up or down on the control box. You're welcome to start a fire in wood stove if you like (firewood provided). TV is 42" flat screen with Roku player, DVD player and PlayStation 2. We keep DVD movies and PS2 games on hand. WiFi with 10MB service is provided (password kept on frig.) Nearby Sheep Creek Lodge has free WiFi as well. A large covered back porch has a large table and set of eight chairs makes for a great grilling and entertaining setup. A fire pit at the back of the property is a great place to enjoy the outdoors, roast some hotdogs, or make some s’mores. Seats 10 comfortably. Firewood is provided. Located 100 miles north of Anchorage, this is a very popular area for hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, and snow-machining, with convenient access to Denali (Mt. McKinley), Willow (Iditarod) and Talkeetna (a popular small tourist town). Many of our renters used the home as a base for day and overnight trips to Denali National Park. Park boundaries are just 45 miles north, but the park entrance (where you can take tour bus into park, see the visitor center and go to tourist shops) is 120 miles north. The entire drive is scenic. Talkeetna, a popular tourist destination with air/river/atv tours available, is only 30 miles away and makes a great day visit. Upper and Middle Caswell Lakes are nearby (within 2 miles) and have public access. Middle Caswell Lake is stocked by Alaska Department of Fish and Game. Salmon fishing is nearby at Willow Creek (20 miles) and Montana Creek (15 miles). We keep basic fishing gear at the cabin for our guest, we just ask that you if you break it or lose it, you pay to replace it. Extra notes: 1) Kids 12 and under free with adults staying. No need to count them in guest count. 2) Have pets? Ask first if they can stay. 3) Exterior Security Cameras: We have installed cameras that monitor the exterior entry doors, garage and driveway of the property. 4) Oil Heater: During the winter months, we use a Toyo oil heater. There may be a slight smell of oil fuel at times. Feel free to open windows to air out the cabin. 5) Garage: Garage (not attached to cabin) on the property for owner use only. ******************************************************* Door key code and detailed map will be provided four days prior to arrival. ------NOTE: ACCOMMODATION TAX INCLUDED IN PRICE------ The required Matanuska-Susitna Borough accommodation tax of 5% (MSB ordinance 89-021) is included in the base price of this rental. For your tax amount, please take the base price (do not include cleaning or service provider fee) and divide by 1.05. The base rate and tax amount is required by law to be disclosed to every renter. This cabin rental has a state and borough business license.
