**HOUSE DESCRIPTION**
Heron Ledge~ provides the perfect home base for your adventure through the Finger Lakes! Only minutes from Watkins Glen, the home is perched 125’ above the lake on a cliff known as the “Painted Rocks.” Situated on the east side of Seneca Lake, you will be spoiled with breathtaking sunsets from the multiple, furnished outdoor decks. This beautiful and contemporary tri-level home is the perfect place to isolate yourself from everything.
Centrally located on over six acres of private land, Heron Ledge is a romantic, warm, and comfortable home with a custom, modern décor. The unique architecture and large windows bring the sky, trees and lake into the house. This one-of-a-kind home offers everything your heart can desire. Every detail about this property reflects the owner’s discriminating taste, attention to detail, and graceful hospitality. The home and property are ideal for a couple, or a small group of close friends.
Walking through the front door, the main level has a comfortable open floor plan. The gourmet kitchen is a delight to cook and relax in, surrounded in large windows to let you gaze out across the lake and forested yard. The kitchen is completely furnished with a large 10-foot island, dual oven range with six burners and a griddle, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, wine cooler and keg cooler. A fully stocked pantry has all the basics for cooking your meals, just bring the entre and vegetables. You can procure local wine, beer, and spirits from numerous award-winning wineries, breweries, and distilleries just a few miles up the road! A Weber gas grill is located right off the kitchen. There is a large hi-def TV with local cable, (Sling, Netflix and Amazon Prime) hi-speed internet and a DVD player. The dining table can accommodate up to eight adults comfortably. Also located on the main floor is a full bathroom and mud room. HRV central ventilation system continuously circulates fresh air throughout the house.
The upper level loft has additional seating with a love seat, futon sofa (that converts to a sleeping space) and a desk. Free wi-fi and a wireless printer w/ paper are provided for your personal use to print out wine tour itineraries and maps. The views from the loft are amazing, it is as if you are in a tree house.
The lower level of the house contains the master bedroom, a guest bedroom, and a beautifully tiled bathroom. The master bedroom has a king size bed, walk-in closet, flat screen tv and a private entrance onto the deck. The guest bedroom is furnished with a queen size platform bed, and private entrance to the deck as well. Each bedroom is also equipped with USB chargers for your mobile devices. Towels, blankets and linens are provided. There is a washer/dryer provided, so there is no need to worry if you didn’t pack enough socks!
The driveway can accommodate up to three vehicles and is conveniently located right at the front door. No steps to enter the house.
Numerous activities abound nearby including kayaking & boating, fishing, beaches, wildlife viewing, and hiking. You can tour the diverse local waterfalls, play golf, follow the cheese trail, visit local farms, go to Watkins Glen International racetrack, take glider rides, eat at gourmet restaurants and much, much, more! Did we mention the wine and beer trails? Come experience a one of a kind get away surrounded by all the natural beauty and none of the neighbors.
Outdoors, we have over 6 acres of naturally wooded hillside. Mature oak, hickory, and maple trees create lush shade in the summertime. In the fall, the colors are unbelievably beautiful. Natural stone steps wind down to a spacious lower level with a fire ring, all inlaid with large shale flagstones. The stone steps continue down to a huge observation deck on the edge of the cliff, where you have epic views over the lake. The nighttime lights of Watkins Glen will captivate you.
Heron Ledge has 800’ of natural lake frontage, but unfortunately, convenient lake access from the property is not available. If you need to get your feet wet, Clute Park is only a short 5-minute drive away. With its soft silty bottom, and warm shallow water, it’s the preferred place for locals to swim. This is NOT a traditional vacation rental with direct access to the water, but the privacy, intimacy and panorama over Seneca Lake is unmatched. We call the nighttime view of Watkins Glen our mini-Manhattan. The hardest part about coming to Heron Ledge is leaving!
We regret we cannot accommodate pets. No smoking in-house. Absolutely no weapons are permitted to be brought, stored or used while in or on ANY part of the property.
We have a Zero Tolerance Policy for weapons and drugs. Violation of weapons ban will not only lose your deposit, any illegal activity could result in criminal charges being brought against you and any of your guests. No illegal or recreational (even the use of legally sanctioned marijuana/edibles, etc.) will also result in your loss of deposit and possible criminal charges as you and your guests as well.
