Haus Sonnenlehen 17 km to Salzburg and 6 km to Bad Reichenhall. The house is approximately 800 years old and is filled with antiques, history, and charm. Lots of modern touches. Directly outside the pedestrian gate to the property is the wonderful Grossgmain swimming pool for summer days and all the great things that the village has to offer. We do extra special Christmas and New Years with a large Christmas tree in the Salon with seating for 25 and a wonderful fire place. The main terrace also has seating for 25 with 2 barbecues for great evenings in the outdoors. Lots of little extras too. We want to make our guests happy and have the five star ratings to prove that. Haus Sonnenlehen has 11 bedrooms with 24 beds normally made up. It has 3 living rooms, two kitchens, 7 Balconies, 3 Terraces, a Louis XIV Bar and a reading nook, four bathrooms, 5 toilets and enough parking for 5 cars on the property and many more directly outside the gates, all free. We can make up, up to 31 sleeping accommodations for guests. Wifi access in the whole house and much of the yard. The first floor has the main kitchen with everything you will need to cook for everyone, two refrigerators, and a cake vitrine for the Mozartkugel Torte that most guests get as part of their stay. The Salon has a fire place and seating for 25 directly connected to the Bar and the reading nook. The Salon also connects to one of the terraces. It has two bedrooms in one suite connected to a full bath, a toilet in the entry foyer. There is a smaller living room with seating for 5 connected directly to the main kitchen that also has seating for 4. Both living rooms and one of the bedrooms have TV's and DVD or bluray players. The kitchen has a sound system with Bluetooth access so that you can listen to your own tunes easily while you are cooking. There are a total of three four terraces on the first floor. The one at the back of the house has extra chaise lounges and tables for you. The second floor has 7 Bedrooms with 15 made up beds. Room 10 has a seating arrangement that can be used as a living space. Many of the bedrooms have sinks in the rooms. One has a shower and sink in the room. There are two toilets (half baths) on this floor. The third floor is the newest. It has two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, large very modern bathroom and a toilet. It is a fully contained flat of it own. All the rooms on this floor have large full HD TV's or 4K TV's with bluray or DVD players. The living room has a loft in it with two beds for anyone that needs extra space and connects to a large fully covered balcony. It has an entertainment system and the 4K OLED TV has netflix loaded on it for guests. The toilet is next to the living room. Bedroom 12 has its own very private balcony and connects to the modern bathroom with a large walk in rain shower and a Jacuzzi with a sky light that lets the moon shine in over the tub on full moons for romantic evenings with candle light. The kitchen is a modern full kitchen with a table that seats 6 and a work space with a computer and two monitors and several sound systems to connect to it or any other ones that are used there. Bedroom 13 is a large room with a king, two beds in a loft and a single that is kept made up. It connects to a large fully covered balcony. The living room and bedroom 13 have vaulted ceilings with sky lights too. We have three children's beds (cribs) that can be put anywhere in the house. We also have high chairs and furniture for little children. There are age appropriate toys in many places around the house. The property has 6200 square meters. It has two yards. One on the side with the big old trees. One is 500 years old and its mate is at least 300 years old. There are fruit trees all over the yard. Take advantage of the cherries, apples, plums, wild strawberries, black berries and elderberries. There is also water cress in the brook. The south yard is big enough to play soccer, badminton, or volley ball in. We leave several soccer balls every year and a badminton set. It is also surrounded by trees. There are terraces on all sides of the house with chairs for spectators and people to chill or watch the kids. The house connects to hiking trails where you can reach restaurants in the woods or the Plainburg castle that over looks the house. At one point it is rumoured that the house was connected to the castle by a tunnel. There are several reasonable good restaurants and bars within walking distance. Turn off the lights in the house and enjoy the stars in the evening. You will be able to see the milky way and August is shooting star month and you can see the meteor showers for the first half of the month. Take a blanket and lie on the lawn to count the shooting stars and make lots of good wishes. Summers are a really nice time at Haus Sonnenlehen. Beautiful evenings with the Barbecue and lots of stars. Short night and really nice long days. Winters you are close to skiing at Bishofswiesen and just beyond. World class skiing can be found in Lofer 28 km away at Almenwelt. There is speed skating in Inzell and Ruhpolding as well as biathlon events and there is bobsledding at Berchtsgaden. There is lots to do around the area at any time of year. And then there is Salzburg. ... Please ask us for a list of things to do that are cool in the area that you will not find in every tourist book. Rupertus Therme in Bad Reichenhall (6 km) from Haus Sonnenlehen is an indoor outdoor spa with everything you would want from a top class spa. The salt water is pumped out of the Untersberg and used in thermal baths of various temperatures and salinity. You can get massages, and enjoy the gym and the lap pools. The Sauna area is a separate but connected facility with 6 saunas of different types and at least 3 sauna masters on duty during the day providing an interesting variety of sauna experiences most hours. Please be aware this is a real Bavarian Sauna facility. Clothes of any type are frowned upon by the locals as they bring dirt and bacteria into the facility. There are showers and baths with lots of soap everywhere for cleanliness. It is extremely refreshing and you will sleep really well even if you do not use the saunas. There are also stunning views of the surrounding mountains from the outdoor pools and saunas. Absolutely beautiful under the moon and stars at any time of year. You can have a light healthy meal in any of the restaurants or poolside in the indoor outdoor thermal baths. Sit in the warm bubbly water and enjoy a cold beer with Bavarian food and salads. Every August they have gourmet dinning events on top of the Predigstuhl which is 5 minutes from the house. It is the oldest operating gondola that takes you up a mountain with mountain goats to be seen on the cliffs along the way. The dining is on enclosed terraces at 1800 meters above sea level with views that are stunning from Tyrol to Salzkammergut. It is one of the most picturesque places you will ever have unique and wonderful gourmet dining. Truly stellar events. Then there also all the really great restaurants in Salzburg. Like Peterskeller. It is the oldest restaurant in Europe. It has been serving people since 803 and is still a total experience. Please leave room for Salzburger Knockerl. One will serve 4 people and they make the best on in the city. The Cult beef items are some of the best beef you will ever eat. There are many gourmet items on the menu. Good for vegetarians as well. These are not texas steaks they a bits of sheer flavour delight. Stop at Hanger 7 on the way into the city on the back side of the Airport to see all the Red Bull racing toys, have great pastries in the cafe or salads in the lounge. There is also multi Michelin star dining in Pegasus at the top. It has an art gallery and a weekly talk show that is filmed there for Servus TV. The admission is free. The exhibits are changed daily so there is always something new to see. In the summer there are fresh picked strawberries in the fields on the way. Salzburgs Christmas and Advent markets are some of the best in the world. Enjoy from end of November till early January. There is ice skating on the Residenz Platz. We want to make you happy.
