Haldegarte is a mudbrick and timber mansion set in 15 beautiful acres overlooking Warburton, Mt Donna Buang and the Yarra Valley. Although secluded, Haldegarte is only two minutes to the village and all its attractions. The main house is centred around a huge cathedral-ceiling living area with a fantastic wood heater and a large open fire. The living/lounge area adjoins a large dining area with a 19th Century refectory table which seats 10. This in turn leads to a large fully equipped entertainer's kitchen. All have spectacular views over Warburton and up the Yarra Valley. Haldegarte was developed with eco-sensitivity as the core philosophy. We are "off-grid" for water and run a composting waste system. Acquired in early 2016, we have invested in furnishing and decorating the house in a quirky yet high-quality way throughout We sought out the most comfortable beds we could source and everything we added was designed to be in keeping with the craftsmanship that went into creating Haldegarte. Many guests have commented on the immediate sense of calm and vitality you feel the minute you step out of the car. Please note that unless specifically stated otherwise, quoted stay rates don't include the provision of linen. However, if you prefer not to bring your own and make up your beds, we have a local service that makes up the beds and provides towels, facewashers etc for $30 per bed room used and supplied with linen during your stay. We have four spacious, exceptionally comfortable queen/king rooms within the house and for larger parties.. We also have a small romantic cottage on the property that has a queen bedroom, a small but fully functional bathroom, a basic kitchen/living space with a woodheater and a lovely veranda with stunning views. (Please note that the cottage will attract an additional fee if used.) Haldegarte also offers a massive laundry, two full bathrooms and a separate toilet off the laundry (and the facilities in the cottage). There is a veranda with outdoor setting running along the front of the house with amazing views. We are blessed with a huge variety of wildlife, birds and insects as well as hundreds of cultivated and indigenous plants. The gardens are extensive and tiered and we have several ponds throughout which means we have to unfortunately discourage families with very young children. The garden has multiple areas including lawns, secret retreats, an orchard, a veggie garden and hidden paths. It literally takes a weekend to explore it all. Haldegarte is ideal for hosting those special milestones such as significant birthdays. We invite questions about how the house and gardens might be used for such occasions limited by insurance cover to 25 people. With a lower paddock, we have ample parking on the property.
