3 Bedroom House in Scarborough, Wombarra

Nestled against the dramatic backdrop of the escarpment and the sparkling blue waters of the Pacific Ocean, is this hidden gem on the Grand Pacific Drive. Welcoming guests for over a decade through Stayz, it closed permanently in 2017 when the owners moved in. Now only open for a few weeks a year, this family home invites you to share in the laid back lifestyle of the Coal Coast. A restored miners cottage, this weatherboard home has retained its soul, while adding resort-style outdoor living. With a huge outdoor deck and breathtaking views of the ocean, it's safe to say living al fresco is the main reason why you'll love your stay here. A sparkling unground pool finished in Italian Bisazza tiles and paved in white travertine, was added in 2019. A wide seating ledge runs the length of the pool (1.2m to 1.6m deep). Poolside there are 6 teak sun loungers with slide out drink trays and sun umbrellas. With full sun all day, the swimming pool is a warm 24 - 29 degrees all summer. There are numerous seating areas and living spaces to spread out in and find a quiet spot. The back deck is furnished with an extra wide Eco Outdoor lounge and chairs. All soft furnishings are weatherproof. The 100sqm deck cascades down to bench seating terraces with jute floor cushions, which leads out another terrace with hanging chairs and a bio-ethanol fire pit, then the pool level, and finally a large levelled grassed area. The 3m long outdoor dining table comfortably seats 12 making it ideal for an extended family gathering. Sheltered under the awning, two HK Living pendants provide ambient lighting, along with Papaya lanterns. At night the rustic stone pool wall is lit up from behind the cascading greenery. The pool lights can change colour if you wish. The kitchen is fully equipped with electric stove top, microwave, dishwasher, large fridge freezer, and Nespresso machine. Plus all the extra appliances, serving ware, and condiments you’d expect in a lived-in home. Separate washing machine and dryer, iron, steam iron, ironing board and toilet, are in the laundry room, along with another full size bar fridge. The cottage has 3 bedrooms: A main with queen bed, tv, small ensuite and garden views. A second with double bed, tv and ocean views. A third with bunk beds, 2 singles and ocean views. All rooms have wood floors, 3 speed ceiling fans, dimmer lights, built in wardrobes and plantation shutters. With 3 children living here, there are tons of toys to share. There's a designated 'kids area' outside under the awning with books, board games, Lego, Barbie dolls, arts and craft supplies, kids dvd's, PS3, nerf guns, hatchimals, jigsaws etc and teepee to play in. While the surrounding area offers a multitude of outdoor activities from Hangliding to Horse riding, Surfing to bush walking, There is also a giant 14 ft trampoline in the garden, as well as a soccer net and basketball ring, table tennis, badminton rackets, water squirters, fishing rods, kites and balls of every shape and size. On the downside there is no private parking - though plenty of space off road, directly across from the house. While the house is on the ocean side of Lawrence Hargrave Drive (overlooking Haig St) so has no road noise, it does have some steep steps which make it unsuitable for wheelchairs and difficult for prams. All of the neighbouring suburbs - Colecliff, Wombarra, Coledale, Austinmer, Thirroul, Bulli each have their own beach and rock pool, hewn from rock shelves by the region's original miners. The local beaches are therefore relatively uncrowded even in the height of summer. Scarborough Wombarra beach has a SLCS and is surf patrolled throughout summer. Wombarra pool is council maintained has a new toilet shower block, and picnic area.
