This wonderful Grade II listed cottage is adjacent to the owner’s thatched farmhouse on the edge of Brighstone, Isle of Wight. The cottage, built of Island stone, has been converted from 3 farm buildings including an old brew house and dairy. Many of the original features have been retained including exposed beams and a stunning brick and stone feature fireplace. The cottage has parking for 2 cars, a terrace, beautiful lawned garden with garden furniture and stunning views of the downs beyond.
The cottage is within 5 minutes walk from Brighstone, one of the most popular villages on the Isle of Wight and in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Brighstone village has a general store (with post office) selling Island produce and a range of food, personal and home care products. The village also has a card/gift shop, pub, 2 churches and even a hairdresser. The cottage is around 1km from Brighstone Bay which can be accessed from some lovely footpaths direct from the cottage. Nearby attractions include The Needles, Tennyson Down, and Blackgang Chine adventure park. The beaches of Compton, Freshwater Bay, Totland Bay and Colwell Bay are also within easy reach.
You enter the cottage via the front door into a hallway. On the right this leads to a large, characterful living room with leather sofas, and a splendid brick and stone fireplace with wood burner. A French door leads to a patio – great for outdoor dining. On the left of the hallway is a spacious fully fitted kitchen/diner with electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave and dishwasher. The ground floor also has a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer and leads to a wet room with walk-in shower, toilet and hand basin. Upstairs the master bedroom has 2 single beds and views of the surrounding fields. The second bedroom has a double bed – this room has a small dormer window to let in natural light but only has a view of the sky! The first floor is completed with a newly refurbished bathroom with bath, hand basin and toilet. The cottage has WiFi included in the rental.
No children under 5 years of age and no pets. The cottage is on a working farm with a pond and stream so children must be supervised at all times.
