Unique caboose train car home w/deck - great for hiking! This one-of-a-kind Montana escape Caboose Train has unbeatable charm and personality, from the unique build to the colorful decor! The interior offers an impressive number of beds, as well as books and games to enjoy after a long day of hiking. The spacious, open deck allows you to take in the fresh mountain air and survey the beautiful trees of the surrounding forest while watching the Amtrak Empire Builder and BNSF trains going by. There are 5 twin beds available. Two are loft style in the cupula, one single in kitchen section, and 2 together in front room. Reading lights are above each bed. A small desk sits in the front of the caboose for an added work space. The kitchen is fully stocked and there is one large standing shelf unit in the kitchen for supplies and pantry space underneath one loft bed. The "cafe style booth" is the perfect place for a game of cards after dinner or a glass of wine while someone else does the cooking! What's nearby: This converted train car sits right next to Essex Station, where it is scenically surrounded by the mountains and woods that make up Glacier Park, Great Bear Wilderness and the bob Marshall - the perfect environment for outdoor enthusiasts. You'll be less than two miles (across the Middle Fork Flathead River) from the South Boundary Trail and Scalplocjk Lookout Tower Trail, and less than a few miles from the Marion Lake Trail, which takes you up Essex Mountain. The entrance to Glacier National Park is also only 29 miles northwest. Things to know: No WiFi Kitchenette with a small fridge, an oven/stove, microwave, coffee maker, and a toaster. The train does pass right behind the lot, so please be aware that there will be some noise Amtrak's "whistle stop" for the Izaak Walton Inn is about 100 yds from the back deck. The Historic Izaak Walton Inn is a short walk down the road. You can take advantage of their restaurant and bar and still enjoy the privacy of your own space. Hiking, fishing, rafting, and relaxing around the camp fire are the main activities to enjoy. *Please note that there is no cell service, no phone, and no WiFi available at this property, so please plan accordingly.
