There are two public accesses, one each on the north and south sides of the lake. Sugar Lake was designated for muskellunge management in 1967. With its larger size (1,015 acres), depth (69 feet), and water clarity (10 feet or more), Sugar Lake is one of the outstanding lake resources of the county. The Cottage: Welcome to Five Oaks Cottage on Sugar Lake! The cottage is located on the Northern Bay of the lake, and faces west for beautiful evening sunsets. It is close to the north boat landing, providing easy access to launch your boat for your stay. This 2 bedroom, 1 bath cottage accommodates up to six persons and is located on 5 acres of land with 120 feet of natural level shoreline and a sandy bottom to the end of the dock. Wonderful fishing from the end of the dock! Enjoy the newly remodeled bathroom (2014) with a glass sliding door shower, massaging showerhead and maple built-in cabinets.
