Fernhaven is a warm and spacious vacation home tucked into the woods just three blocks from the beach at Arch Cape. Marvelous hikes and stunning beaches are just minutes away. With four bedrooms, a spacious kitchen, living room, dining room, and comfy den with entertainment center, Fernhaven is perfect for family gatherings and group excursions with friends. Couples too find its cozy seclusion romantic. Fernhaven’s two stories offer four bedrooms- but there’s also a convertible sofa bed for larger parties. Both bathrooms feature radiant floor heating. You’ll find it’s so nice to step out of the jacuzzi tub onto toasty-warm tile floors. The kitchen is large, beautifully appointed, and stocked with utensils, pans, and dishes- everything you need for preparing gourmet meals. It’s equipped with new appliances including a dishwasher. Although our wooded lot keeps Fernhaven secluded and quiet, from the kitchen you can catch a glimpse of Castle Rock out there in the Pacific, through the trees. The kitchen opens into the living room, separated by a bar with stools, in case you need more seating than the dining table can provide. The dining table itself seats from 6 to 10 people- there are plenty of extra chairs in the walk-in pantry, if you need them. The living room has a large sectional sofa, a piano, a stereo system, and a wood stove to make it extra cozy. Fernhaven's entertainment center includes a large flatscreen, DVD player, and Roku player. We do not subscribe to cable or satellite at this time. The DVD collection there is quite modest, so bring some movies if you think you might want to snuggle up with one some evening! Other amenities include Wi-fi, an outdoor charcoal grill, and a washer/dryer. It’s very easy and quite tempting to spend all of your time inside cozy Fernhaven, cooking with friends and sipping wine by the fire, but there’s a beautiful world just outside! Hug Point, one of the most magical and beautiful beaches on the west coast is just a quick jaunt away, as is Neahkahnie Mountain, whose 1,680’ elevation will reward you with spectacular views, if you make the climb. Experienced mushroom hunters will be delighted to explore after the rains, as you can barely follow a trail without stumbling on a delicious score. Or you can just walk a few steps to the beach at Arch Cape, build a fire, and watch the sunset. There are dozens of excellent hikes in the area, and the northern Oregon coast likewise offers too many beautiful beaches to list here. As hard as it will be to leave lovely Fernhaven to explore, you’ll be rewarded with lush coastal rainforests and magical Oregon beaches when you do. And after such adventures, there’s no better place to come home to! We look forward to hosting you here. GETTING TO THE BEACH FROM FERNHAVEN: It is a short walk to the beach at Arch Cape, thanks to a lovely little access staircase between two beachfront houses. It may be hard to see from Google Maps since it's under a plant-covered archway, but thanks to those stairs it is a pretty straight shot from Fernhaven to the beach. Crossing 101 is safe- just practice common sense like looking both ways and leashing your pets. The traffic on this stretch of road is rather infrequent and it's very easy to access the beach from our wooded lot. It's exactly 0.23 miles from the front door to the sand, under a quarter of a mile.
