Positive: The glowing reviews by other guests are no joke! Super-friendly and accommodating host. Very peaceful and quiet environment (unless you object to birds singing) in an authentic black forest home situated in a small village (Röt), with wonderful hiking trails right from the house and many more in the region. Beautiful and large apartment under the rooftop with very well-equipped kitchen. Other facilities (laundry, parking, WiFi, etc) were perfect, too. The village is connected to the rail network (about 100 metres walk) and public transport tickets (KONUS card) come as a freebie with the mandatory tourist tax. Absolute value for money (though I understand we may have paid less than the usual rate). The people in the village also were very friendly and helpful, e.g. spontaneously taking the initiative to point me towards a nice alternative hiking path when they saw me checking a map. We had a super-relaxing vacation!
Negative: Everything was perfect. We had a rental car available; if you're using public transport note that the nearest grocery store/supermarket is a few kilometres away (in Klosterreichenbach or Baiersbronn) - as trains run only about once an hour some planning may be required. The apartment is on the upper floor and there is no lift, which was perfectly fine with us but may be not ideal if you're mobility impaired (in which case I would question the choice of destination as the main attraction of the black forest region is hiking on the hilly and sometimes rough trails). By far the worst thing about our stay was that it was too short!
Summary: Peaceful and quiet, wonderful host/hospitality, gorgeous nature, amazing apartment ,value for money.
