There are stunning views of the Aravis mountains and valley from the south-facing balcony and large terrace, which has a bar and dining area. It's just a short drive to Manigod where you can pick up fresh bread and croissants or perhaps a takeaway meal from the Auberge du Sulens restaurant. The peaceful location of Onze Chalet is the perfect antidote to the usual hustle and bustle of the bigger ski resorts, and in the summer, it's the perfect place to discover the flora and fauna of the Alps. The cosy and quirky decor of this unique property, which comfortably sleeps 11 people in 6 bedrooms, reflects the Dutch origins of its owners. Plenty of comfortable sofas and a charming ornate fireplace contrast with the sleek well-equipped open-plan kitchen on the ground floor. In the spacious living area, large windows frame the stunning views of La Tournette and the Aravis mountains. Doors open from the dining area on to the large terrace where you can enjoy a meal or a drink at the bar while the sun sets. On this floor there's also a separate TV lounge, a double bedroom on the mezzanine, and another double bedroom and bathroom, as well as a useful utility room. There are three bedrooms on the first floor - a double room with shower room opposite, a baby's room, and a double room with en suite shower room. There are two more double bedrooms, a single bedroom and two shower rooms with WC on the lower ground floor: an ideal family suite with access on to the garden, terrace and a superb ski store with boot warmer and room to store bikes and outdoor gear. This lower floor could be a great self-contained option for a party with teenagers who enjoy their independence. You'll be staying just a few minutes' drive from the lifts at Croix Fry, so you'll waste no time getting on the slopes in the mornings. You don't even need to take the car, as the ski bus stops less than 200 metres from your front door. There's an ESF ski school base at Croix Fry and beginners will love the gentle nursery slopes. Those with more experience can explore the 220km of pistes between Manigod, La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand, which are covered by the Aravis ski pass. Cross-country skiers will find plenty of trails to choose from on nearby Beauregard plateau, and non-skiers are not forgotten, with a heated indoor/outdoor swimming pool at La Clusaz, ice skating rink and cinema, as well as snow-shoe walking, dog-sledding and sleigh rides. If you think there is a lot to do in the Alps in the winter, you'll be amazed at what you can do once the snow has gone. In the spring and summer there's no shortage of walks, from mountain trails to hiking on the Gliéres plateau. The ski lifts will take walkers or cyclists and their bikes up the mountains, so they can come down at their own pace. Adrenalin junkies can try paragliding, canyoning, climbing, or white-water rafting within a few miles of Manigod. Via ferrata is another great family day out, with children as young as eight able to explore the mountains safely on iron walkways, secured to a harness. You'll have plenty of experiences to share back at the chalet, over a barbecue and a glass of wine.
