If you are looking for the perfect mountain getaway, look no further then ELKS CROSSING LODGE. Nestled in the Great Smoky Mountains, and a 12-minute drive up from the main road, our lodge sits at an elevation of 5200 feet, allowing for awesome views of eleven mountain ranges from the comfort of two large decks. Sheer beauty and activities galore await you. Upon reserving at ELKS CROSSING LODGE we ask just a few simple items from you. We ask that you read the contract, sign, initial and return back to us. Once we receive your rental agreement we will release your personal door code assigned to you for your stay. NO KEYS to have to worry about, which makes traveling more convenient. The purpose of the information is for your protection and ours and provides you with detailed information on what you can expect from your stay. We are always a phone call away should you need our assistance while enjoying the lodge. Feel free to bring your ATVs and ride the numerous trails...or strap on some hiking shoes and enjoy the trails on foot! There's so much to see and do in the surrounding areas and after a day of fun, sit back, relax, and enjoy all the comforts the lodge has to offer. With beds for 14 guests, ELKS CROSSING LODGE is the perfect get-away if two families would like to combine and share the cost of a mountain retreat, if not, feel free to come alone or even with a small group of friends. There are three bedrooms, three full bathrooms, large family room, open kitchen, large game room with bar and pool table, 2 fireplaces, 4 televisions, Wi-Fi, upper deck & lower deck, full laundry room, wrap-around driveway, outdoor fire pit and grill, enough space for everyone to spread out. The lodge is tastefully decorated and the owners have an attention to detail. For those of you who love to cook, the kitchen is open and spacious. If grilling is your preference, there are two grills; one charcoal and one firewood/charcoal pit. Nothing is better than burgers, chicken, or steak cooked over charcoal. After dinner, go for a walk and investigate your surroundings. If you bring your ATV's go for a night ride and see the stars. Most guests choose to stay at the lodge, have a fire and roast marshmallows, drinking wine, or having a cocktail around the fire pit. After a long adventurous day, and it is time to turn in, your inviting bed awaits. The House Keepers who service the lodge clean and sanitizes all bed linens after each guest, including the blankets, comforters, and shams. The House Keepers use UV Detection Lighting which is special lighting used to assist in cleaning bathrooms and countertops. This extra effort is what makes our House Keepers the best in the business. ELKS CROSSING has 2 Kings beds, 2 Full Beds, and 6 twin beds. After a hard day of adventures, some guests may choose to stay up later and enjoy the downstairs bar and pool table area, swing in the hammock, play some games, corn hole, or sit back and watch television. After you have had a good night's sleep, wake up in the morning to a cup of coffee (regular pot or Keurig) and sit on the comfy deck furniture and absorb all the sounds and sights right from the comfort of either deck. This will be the most relaxing part of your day. There are plenty of bird feeders hanging from the upper deck. Feel free to keep them fed. After breakfast, take a shower in one of the three full baths and get ready to start yet another mountain day. There are waterfalls to visit, shopping, dining, hiking, golfing, putt-putting, historic sites, lakes, fishing, casino, shows, dancing, festivals, boating, gem mining, tubing, skiing, parks and so much more to see and do. Some guests choose to do nothing but enjoy the serenity of the lodge, and that is perfectly fine. As crazy as the world has been lately, we all need some much-needed downtime. The elevation at which the lodge is located makes the lodge the perfect spot to escape the heat. The temperature is on average ten degrees cooler than in the valley. So bring a jacket for the summer evenings, it could be chilly. The lodge is high enough that the clouds occasionally wrap around the decks. That is why it is called the Great Smoky Mountains. Watching a thunderstorm rolling across the mountain range is a beautiful sight to behold. If the power should go out due to weather, no worries, the house is protected with a generator for your convenience. What more could you ask for? This lodge has it all, every comfort of home. ELKS CROSSING LODGE is the best place for relaxation, laughter, that much needed time with family and friends. There is plenty of parking for numerous vehicles and ATVs. Access to the lodge is on a gravel road and there are two different routes to take to reach the lodge. Gravel roads are perfect for navigating mountain top cabins due to the traction the gravel provides. Paved roads at higher elevations make the drive a bit more challenging, fortunately the 12-minute drive to our lodge is on gravel. There are two routes to access the lodge. Most guests choose Route 1, which is the quickest route but a bit steeper. Route 2 takes you through a gravel road neighborhood and is not as steep but does take a few extra minutes. Route 2 is not suggested for pulling trailers. Many bears are seen on Route 2. Always be prepared for roaming animals crossing the street. We have seen bear, elk, wild boar, chipmunks roaming the mountain. All types of vehicles navigate the mountain terrain. Guests have arrived by mini-vans, Suv's, sedans, and believe it or not a Prius(not that we suggest any particular vehicle) has been driven to the lodge without any issues but trucks and SUV's are always the best option. We cannot be responsible for the vehicle you choose to travel in to get to the lodge. Driving on a mountain road is always within your comfort level. 4-wheel drive is always best. Remember...at this elevation weather can change in an instant. One spring day we experienced sunshine, rain, sleet and then snow, so we ask that you be prepared for any weather condition. We suggest guests to purchase additional travel insurance with weather related coverage. This protects you, should you not be able to access the lodge due to weather. It is great protection for your vacation because we do not offer refunds due to weather and road related issues. Winter definitely, only 4-wheel drive will be suitable. Unfortunately, guests who travel by motorcycles, corvettes (low sitting vehicles), Can Am or Slingshots, this is not the ideal lodge to reserve. We do care about your safety and these vehicles do not drive well on gravel mountain roads. If you want a Mountain View understand that you do have to travel on an incline that smooths out after about 300 yards. Remember if you want the views and wildlife experience you will have to travel up a mountain. The first 300 yards is bumpy and steep on route 1, but just to let you know that our children drive their Honda Civics and a Prius up both routes with no issue and route 1 is our preferred route. There are many families that live year round on this mountain and drive these roads daily. Prior to reserving this lodge, or if you are hesitant about driving on a mountain, and would like to ask any questions, please feel free to contact us and we have no issues with explaining how to navigate the mountain road, or any question you may have about the lodge. If you are not comfortable with traveling on a short incline(which may be intimidating the first time) this may not be the lodge for you. We would love to have you reserve with us but another type of vehicle such as 4-wheel drive might make you feel more comfortable or possibly a lower cabin. Travel Insurance is always an option and please purchase the insurance with weather related coverage. We are here for you before, during and after your stay. So, Put your vehicle in low-drive and enjoy the ride; the lodge is definitely worth the drive to the top! Oh, want to know how the lodge got the name, ELKS CROSSING LODGE? Because Elk frequent this area of the mountains. The Elk will sometimes come down the mountain or stroll across the gravel road and hang out by the fire pit. They have been seen walking across the lower deck and climbing up the side of the mountain and prefer hanging out on the upper part of the property. The photos posted are the Elk on the deck and roaming behind the lodge. ( Please maintain a safe distance between you and the ELK. They are wild animals, run in herds, and will protect their young. ) There have been occasions where the Elk magically appear at the lodge, especially at dusk. If you listen closely, you may hear the bugle calls in the distance or you may hear the breaking of branches and rustling of leaves when they are close. The Elk are not the only animals to frequent this area. So, with all the excitement, entertainment, but most important, precious time with family and friends, "Why reserve anywhere else but at ELKS CROSSING LODGE?"
