This newly-updated former fisherman's cottage features a homey mix of vintage and mid-century modern styling while the open plan looks out to a large deck with built-in seating and to relaxing views of the Chautauqua Lake shore line and it’s surrounding rolling hills. It is a short 1/2 mile walk or bike to the Village of Bemus Point, New York with it’s coffee shop, park, restaurants, market, shops, tennis or golf. Long Point State Park, the Chautauqua Institute, Midway Amusement Park, shopping in Lakewood (including Quilter’s Haven) and historic Jamestown are all within a 10 mile radius. Easy access to beaches at Presque Isle & Lake Erie, Buffalo-Niagara Falls, and the Finger Lakes. There are many wineries dotting Lake Erie & Chautauqua shorelines. Local farm stands, Wegman’s and fresh eggs are a short drive away. If you'd rather cook & BBQ yourself, we have a large fully-furnished kitchen and an outdoor BBQ near the deck with patio table, chairs and umbrella. There is a private dock for fishing or boating or tying up your kayak and a pedal boat is available to guests. The public boat launch is nearby. A firepit is at water’s edge for late night sing-alongs and marshmallows or just sit, relax and enjoy the ducks, ripples and greenery. We, family and friends have experience with allergies and physical limitations. Likewise, we are passionate about protecting the amazing Chautauqua ecosystem. Quilting friends are frequent invitees when we are here. The property was purchased and is being constantly improved with these in mind. While it cannot be considered fully “accessible”, it is friendly for many with limited walking mobility. We have 3-step access on a gently sloping lot. There is a downstairs bedroom with wide walkways and master bath with safety chair for the shower and flexible shower hose. Large kitchen and open plan make it easy to move around indoors.The transition from the house to large deck through the sliding door is easy and outdoor terrain to the lake is gently sloping. CAVEAT to super tall folks: 7’ ceilings, on both floors. Note: 2 video surveillance cameras monitor the *exterior* or our home, one overlooking the front driveway and one overlooking the back yard and dock area.
