The space:
In the spirit of vintage travel we are offering a glamping/no hassle, retro RV-ing experience… namely a 1966 Wanderlodge named “The Galloping Goose“… campsite included!
The “Goose” and it’s campsite is so much more then just lodging. It’s a whole experience where the unpleasant things about camping/RVing have been replaced with a no-hassle adventure where you are also able to relax and soak in the nature surrounding the Wanderlodge… the “Goose” is rented stationary/in-place at our campsite. Please note that one of the beds (the one in the bedroom) is a California King-sized mattress with a firm side and a soft side. There is also a pull-out couch that is a small twin and foam floor mattress smaller than a twin.
For many years, Wanderlodges were in a separate class of motorhomes alongside brands like Prevost and Newell. Until the latter years of its production run, Blue Bird priced many examples comparably to a medium-sized American home! Through its production run, examples of the Wanderlodge were sold around the world to celebrities, dignitaries, and heads of state. Notable owners include the former President of the United States, Jimmy Carter; Hollywood movie star, John Wayne; country music superstar, Johnny Cash; and King Hussein of Jordan, among others.
Other things to note:
No tv, no wifi... but there is good LTE service (at least with Verizon) that can be your secret if you just want to get away and only be minimally reachable (or not at all reachable!!!). :)
There is an indoor shower and other bathroom facilities!
In winter/times of freezing temperatures please remember that there is no heat in the Goose and that water/water-using facilities like the toilet cannot be offered. Also, this is Colorado and a vehicle with good tires and/or with AWD or 4WD can be advisable.
A propane grill can be supplied for an additional $75 and once paid cannot be cancelled unless a fire ban is in effect for La Plata County. Guests must supply their own propane tank and propane and be able to make the tank to hose connection themselves. Guest acknowledges that grills and propane have inherent concerns and risks and waives all rights and liability of Host for any grill activity including grilling and making the connection to the tank.
No campfires or there is a $500 clean-up fee.
