Nestled on the NY/PA border on the banks of the Delaware River, our light-filled river chalet is under a two hour drive from NYC. The all-season home has been newly renovated in the Spring of 2021 and is perfect for families, couples, and groups of friends looking for a serene getaway. Professionally cleaned before every stay; professional property manager on call.
Wake up to eagles soaring overhead and the sounds of the river as you come down and sip coffee on the deck! In the winter, enjoy a view of the water (including from the private overlook deck built at the bottom of the sprawling lawn). In the summer, walk just a few minutes down the road and wade in! The house is minutes away from river access points and rentals for tubing, white water rafting, kayaks and canoeing trips; under 5 minutes to Barryville, home to a fabulous farmer’s market, antique stores and restaurants; and only a 15-minute drive from Narrowsburg with its boutiques, bookstores, and a specialty food shop.
In your downtime, enjoy preparing meals in the fully-stocked, newly appointed kitchen featuring huge gas stove and oven, dishwasher, oversize farm sink, and plenty of prep space, or on the grill outside!. Eat indoors at the breakfast nook or by floor-to-ceiling windows at the dining table that seats six, or outside on the expansive deck. Afterward, wind down and play games in the cozy and rustic living and TV room. In the loft, a gorgeous queen bedroom with ensuite bathroom and office nook looks out through massive vaulted picture windows onto the lawn and the river beyond - watching the sun rise here (and catching some eagles in the on-season) is a truly special experience. A second bedroom on the main floor is similarly equipped with a queen-size memory foam bed, with a charming second bathroom located opposite. Downstairs, there is a third bedroom with private lawn access and tv space.
Back from a river trip? Enjoy a refreshing outdoor shower in our sun-drenched (but private) space! Throughout the house, there are brand new appliances and comfortable furnishings, towels and linens. Laundry in the basement means you can run a load of wet gear after the river or handle longer stays with ease.
The house is pet friendly (for well behaved pets), so bring along your dog (or cat!) - they’ll love it. We do charge a pet fee of $75 per stay for up to two pets; if you're traveling with more than 2 pets, please message us.
There are countless activities in the area, depending on the season. We provide a list of our favorite things to do nearby, including favorite restaurants, markets, and antique stores. Barryville is also located about 20 minutes from Bethel, the site of the 1969 Woodstock festival.
Some things to note:
(1) Due to the pandemic, guests must check out no later than 11:00am, unless we give prior written approval of a later check-out. This is to allow a proper cleaning before the next guests arrive. Please be respectful of the cleaning staff's time.
(2) We are very cognizant of this home’s proximity to one of our country’s most beautiful rivers. If you go down to the river, please leave the riverbank cleaner than you found it. Please refrain from wearing chemical sunscreens or bug sprays into the river. Absolutely no littering, dumping or fireworks at the house or by the river. If you don’t plan to abide by this, we kindly ask that you not book with us. #saveourrivers
(3) For summer renters, please note that the house does not have air conditioning. There is a lovely through-breeze with the windows open and there are ceiling fans throughout the house.
(4) We have done our best to update the house with modern comforts, and high speed WiFi is broadcasted throughout the house and decks! However, the house is in a rural area so for most carriers there is no cell service at the house. The WiFi is strong enough to support WiFi calling and videoconferencing, and there is a landline at the house for guest use.
(5) While the house is finished and fully insulated, and cleaned for every renter, it is still a country home and (depending on the time of year), some critters do find their way into the home despite our best efforts and pest-proofing. Being careful about food clean-up and securing doors/windows (especially at night) minimizes any issues.
(6) As a courtesy to our neighbors and for pets’ own safety, please do not allow pets to run loose in the yard unsupervised.
(7) Use of the river overlook deck at the bottom of the yard and the fire ring are at renters' own risk. We provide a house manual in advance of your stay with more information as well as house rules.
