Summary: We stayed in Erica 1C for a week with out 4.5 year old daughter. We were encouraged by the great reviews we had read, and were not disappointed! The property is small, but well appointed with everything we needed. There is a nice private terrace with stunning views of the sea (and loungers and deck chairs), and then a large communal garden area immediately in front. The stars at night were amazing! We felt as though we had peace and privacy, but with the security that there were other people close by. I would have had no qualms staying there alone at night. The parking space is clearly marked, and brilliantly shaded - the car was never too hot, although the weather didn't dip below 30 degrees throughout our stay. For families with very young children, please be aware that you need to walk up a short slope from the car parking space and then down some stone steps to the villa (this allows it to have such great views). We usually went to the beach that is a short walk from the villa - a beautiful cove, which was never too busy and where local families seemed to go. Our daughter easily managed the walk, and the clear shallow water was ideal for a non-swimmer. We would also walk down to Porto Rafael and swim in the small cove area there, and have aperitivi in the bar by the waterfront. Whilst very small, it is clearly "the" place to be - when we visited the fort near the villa and went on a boat ride round the Maddalena Islands, the guide pointed it out as the most exclusive area in this part of the coast. There is a little supermarket there which was reasonably priced and very well stocked. There are also a number of other larger supermarkets a short drive a way, so it was very easy to cater breakfasts and the odd lunch and dinner, though we ate out most evenings. Our favourite restaurant was just outside Palau (CuCumiao - you can book online), and we also went to a lovely agriurismo near there (Agriturismo Lu Branu). Sofia made sure that everything went smoothly. When the toilet flush broke, it was repaired within just a few hours. And we were provided with detailed information so we could make the most of our stay. There is a small washing machine which was ideal, so we could wash our swimming things after the water park (AquaDream) and when we came back from the beach. We would thoroughly recommend!
