Positive: Friendly hosts. The son spoke good English. Large apartment with three balconies. Great sun trap at the rear. Very good value. Very quiet area other than stray dogs barking through the night.
Negative: This was my first trip to the region, so this review is very much from a European perspective. I hate to be negative, but other travellers should know what to expect. It's based on a rating of 9.0 on Booking.com, and what I normally expect from a property rated this high, plus the reviews that I read about it. I followed the link I was sent on Google maps, and informed the owner that I was in a taxi. However, the streets aren't signed, and the property didn't have a number or name. I had to call the owner to ask where I should be. I eventually had to pass the phone to the taxi driver. I had been outside all along but it took about 5 minutes for anyone to appear. There was no running water in the area when I checked in. I had to call the owner in the morning to get hot water. There was a cylinder on the balcony that needed connecting but no instructions anywhere. I also had to ask where the bath and hand towel were - they were in a cupboard. I wasn't supplied with any soap or shampoo. There was no microwave, although it said there was. It got cold in the evening, and the portable gas heater didn't work. The wi-fi was patchy or didn't work for hours on end.
