Dewees is a private, ferry-access only island. A nature lovers quiet paradise! A perfect get-away from the many distractions of daily life where time slows down. You get to the island on a 20 minute ferry ride departing from the private Dewees Marina parking lot on the Isle of Palms. Dewees has pristine beaches that truly you have almost all to yourself; sand dollars galore; and great fishing spots. It’s a naturalist’s dream: bald-head eagles nesting on a platform, dolphins playing in the inlets, and deer venturing out at dusk. If you are up to watching sea turtles hatching on moonlit beaches, the owner holds the state permit for protecting sea turtles and will be pleased to share his experiences with you. This Dewees home is the only rental on the island with it’s own “private walkway” to the beach. It includes a private screened-in Gazebo on the beach with picnic table and benches; as well as a storage unit with beach chairs, umbrellas and toys; and an outdoor shower to rinse sand from the beach. The home has beautiful views of the ocean from large decks and a crow’s nest on the roof. As our guest you are able to use all the amenities of the Huyler House, a magnificent lodge that serves as the center of the community, with a swimming pool, tennis courts, basketball court, and screened in game area. Just because you feel you are world’s away from the stress you left behind, you are only 25 minutes from the romantic city of Charleston with it’s many historic tours and world-class restaurants. Other Things to Note Ferry passes are not included in the price of the rental. They are an additional $40/person for the week or $4.00 per ride. This will be paid directly to the owner.
