This lovely, tastefully furnished property is set in a spectacular location with stunning views just 15 minutes from the picturesque old town of Céret and half an hour from the beaches of the Mediterranean. The Spanish border is 20 minutes by car with Barcelona only a 2 hour drive away. This is an ideal location to get away from it all with numerous options to explore the many attractions nearby. Recommended for children 8 years old and over.
Activities in the surrounding area are plentiful. There are several beaches about half an hour away, including Argeles and Racou. You can visit the historic coastal town of Collioure to swim and explore. You can eat in amazing seafood restaurants all along the coast to Port Vendres, Banyuls, Cerbere and beyond into Spain. There is a coastal footpath or you can drive along the very scenic coast road into Spain and visit the quaint Spanish seaside towns of Port Bou, Llanca and Colera. Visit pretty Cadaques to see the Dali house or go to the Dali Museum in Figueres. Roses is another popular Spanish seaside resort. You can also take boat trips from Port Argeles along the coast into Spain. The port area also has numerous restaurants and cafes.
This area is also a magnet for those who love art. You can visit the Museum of Modern Art in Ceret. Ceret, also famous as the home of French cherries, has a very colourful and enormous Saturday market which is well worth a visit.
You might also like to go wine-tasing along the Route des Vins which is clearly signposted everywhere. Chateau Valmy is a good place to do an organised visit.
The property sleeps 6 in 3 comfortable double bedrooms all with en-suite facilities. The large kitchen, separate dining room and large lounge with sunroom look out towards the patio, swimming pool (open from 1/5 until 31/10) and incredible mountain views beyond.
The house, which is all on one level, is situated in a quiet road in the heart of the Hauts de Ceret. Although there are other houses around there is a sense of complete isolation and peace once inside the property’s extensive grounds. There is a long driveway, with entry phone system, which leads to parking at the front of the house for 1 or more cars. Access to the house is through the front door which comes into a small hallway and then the dining room.
The dining room has a large table with seating for up to 8 people. Large sliding doors look out over the terrace where again 6 people can sit comfortably for outdoor dining with beautiful views of the hills and mountains. There is a Weber BBQ on the terrace.
The extensive and well-equipped kitchen is through an archway to the left of the dining room. It has a central island with storage and stools. There is an enormous grange cooker, large fridge-freezer, microwave, dishwasher etc. Again, glass doors lead out to the patio and overlook the pool and views. There is a large utility room to the side of the kitchen with washing machine and dryer. There is also a guest shower and toilet at the back of the utility room which is useful for when using the pool.
To the right of the dining room is the lounge area which is extensive and comfortably furnished. There is a 2-way fire and ample seating for 6 people especially with the addition of the sunroom which leads from the main area. Once more there are the same beautiful views from the windows and doors and access to the garden.
From the hallway if you turn left you arrive at the master bedroom with ensuite bathroom and dressing room. This is a large room with comfy chairs and a kingsize-bed. Double doors lead to the garden from the side of the house. The bathroom has a bath and separate shower with his and her basins. The dressing room is just to the side.
On the opposite side of the house from the lounge area you can access the other 2 bedrooms. One is a large double with en-suite shower and toilet and the other is a twin with an identical en-suite. The double has sliding doors and mountain views. The twin looks to the side also with double doors to the garden.
This beautiful house has reversible air-conditioning in all rooms.
The pool has stunning views of the mountains and Maureillas and even Fort de Bellegarde at Le Perthus on the frontier with Spain. 10m by 5m, the pool has a large paved area where you can enjoy the sunshine from the sunloungers that are provided for your comfort. There is also a large garden which is laid to grass. The pool is open from 1st May to 31st October.
NB: We would recommend only for children 8 years old and over due to electric fence (for keeping out wild boar).
