3 Bedroom Cabin in St Just
This timeless detached cottage is set in magical private gardens tucked away in the heart of the stunning Cot Valley a 10 minute stroll from Porth Nanven Cove and the South West coast path. The epitome of a classic Cornish cottage there is even a stream running through the gardens with a foot bridge leading across to a secluded sitting area. Peace and tranquillity are the watchwords for a stay in this lovely home. The Cot Valley is a sub-tropical oasis containing only a handful of homes surrounded by a profusion of plants and wildlife and numerous paths leading down to the sea at the foot of the valley. This is a very special location and whether you are coming to walk, surf or simply escape, Daisy Cottage offers a perfect base from where to enjoy the best the far west of Cornwall has to offer. Arriving is like stepping back into Poldark’s era as you walk through the hidden gardens and into this eighteenth century cottage. Unusually spacious, all the mod cons are taken care of and the comfortable accommodation has bedrooms across two separate sides of the house. This makes it great for parties who need a little space or is equally good for couples looking for a break who can benefit from a just for two rate. The large sitting room is open to the dining area and with plentiful seating and a woodburner it’s a great social space to relax in after days out exploring. The kitchen/breakfast room is well equipped and there is a ground floor bathroom off it and stairs up to a master bedroom. The other side of the cottage has stairs from the sitting room leading up to another double bedroom and bathroom as well as the cutest of children’s bedrooms with 2 small beds. It's dog friendly too and your four-legged friend will be in heaven with so many walks from the doorstep. For beach days it's a short drive to the glorious surfing found at Sennen which was recently voted in the top five UK beaches by the Times. The charming town of St Just is in walking distance or a five minute drive away and has an array of local shops, pubs, cafes and two great butchers. A good tip the fish and chips from Jeremy's in the square are not to be missed! Originally Daisy Cottage would have been a miner’s cottage when this area was the epicentre of the world’s Tin mining industry. These days it’s simply the most idyllic spot to enjoy a holiday in an area of outstanding natural beauty where you are surrounded by breathtaking coastline and sleepy villages that time hasn’t yet caught up with. Location A tumbling stream dissects The Cot Valley as it runs westwards down to the Atlantic and this is a truly beautiful area. Lush with vegetation the valley seems to have its own micro climate and an abundance of plants and wildlife give this magical corner of west Cornwall a unique feel. For wildlife lovers down on the coast at Porth Nanven seals are regular visitors and if you are lucky dolphins and basking sharks can be spotted too. Its a Birdwatchers paradise and among others Cornish choughs, buzzards and owls are regularly seen in the valley. The nearby town of St Just is a friendly place that feels lost in time with a good selection of local shops, a deli, a butcher, four pubs and a small local supermarket for your everyday needs. Sennen with its glorious surfing beach is five minutes away and Portheras, a hidden and stunning locals cove is only ten minutes drive past Pendeen travelling east. Travelling back within twenty minutes you can be in Marazion with its fabulous beach overlooking the famous St Michael's Mount, St Ives, Mousehole or Penzance. Living Walking in through French doors you enter a very spacious open plan sitting and dining room. It’s a lovely social room, traditionally furnished and full of character. The dining area by the entrance to the kitchen has a table and six chairs. A step-up leads to the main sitting room which is split into two areas with plenty of seating to relax on. There are two comfy chesterfield sofas and an armchair as well as three additional armchairs. There is a newly installed woodburner at the far end, perfect for cosy evenings in and a large flat screen TV with Freeview. Stairs lead up the first floor to two of the bedrooms and a bathroom. Cooking The large kitchen is well equipped and has everything you need to cook up a feast and more. There is a gas hob and an electric double oven, a washer/dryer, fridge/freezer and a microwave oven. Sleeping A staircase off the kitchen leads up to a double bedroom with fitted wardrobe, a chest of drawers and two windows looking out towards the valley. From the sitting room a second staircase leads up to the first floor where there is a bright second double bedroom overlooking the gardens with a chest of drawers and freestanding wardrobe. Along the corridor there is a further small bedroom with two child's size beds. Bathing There are two bathrooms both with baths and electric showers over them. One is on the ground floor in the hallway by the kitchen and the other on the first floor past the third children's bedroom which is served by a separate WC next to it. Gardens The gardens run along and below Daisy Cottage are mostly lawned and are well established with a wonderful array of plants, trees and flowers. Directly outside the cottage is paved with a step down to a patio area with a large bistro table and four chairs which is a lovely spot to listen to the birdsong and enjoy a morning coffee.
