Our mountain retreat is nestled in the serene Sangre De Cristo mountains. It's close to the Great Sand Dunes National Park, and offers plenty of open space, ideal for relaxation, captivating views, dark sky star gazing, and escape from bustling city life.
Within Forbes Park, you'll find private hiking trails and local wildlife. Spring brooks with native trout and beautiful wildflowers can be found here in spring and early summer.
Being within an hour of the Great Sand Dunes, Zapata Falls, Cuchara Mountain Park, Hot Springs, the Spanish Peaks Wilderness area, local reservoirs and so much more, its a great launching point for many outdoor activities.

Our cabin runs on 100% renewable energy, so you don't have to worry about an electric outage (which happens in the mountains). It comes with a full kitchen, a smart tv, high speed fiber wire internet, and space heating. And, for those of you that like to sleep in, each bedroom has blackout curtain’s, which are great for little one's nap times. we also offer a fire pit for campfires in the evening.
The closest supermarket is in Walsenburg and Alamosa. There is a small store in Ft Garland but it only has essentials. It is highly recommended that you shop before you come to the cabin.
Parts of the park are burned from the 2018 spring fire, however there’s a lot of new growth now, and wildflowers in the spring and early Fall. There’s a lot of roads/trails for hiking, exploring and mountain biking. Though you can not hunt in the private community of Forbes Park itself, Forbes Park does back to National Forest with specific access points.
Check out is at noon but please feel free to let us know if you need a little longer to pack up from your stay.
In the winter months 4WD is recommended. The park plows the main roads first and then the side roads. Since our cabin is close to the front of the park and our lot is close to the main road, our street usually gets plowed quickly after the main roads. However, sometimes it can take a day or two to plow depending on the storm. Our driveway does not have any snow removal.
