多福里位于504弄，汾阳坊540弄，属新式里弄建筑群，占地面积12000平方米。“村”、“里”、“坊”的取名是承悉传统，仿照旧说。里坊自古有之，“五户为邻，五邻为里”。老式石库门大多称“里”“坊”，改良式石库门则以“村”、“新村”、“别墅”相称。
原是20世纪20年代上海著名颜料商邱信山、邱渭卿兄弟发家时所建的产业。邱氏兄弟的祖辈是山东微山湖上的渔家，据传还是梁山泊绿林好汉之后。到了19世纪鲁南地区天灾人祸，民不聊生，一批一批的老百姓不得不外出逃荒谋生，有的远走关东（东北三省）叫做“闯关东”，有的南下江南出卖苦力。邱氏兄弟便是在这样的社会背景下背井离乡来到上海谋生的。
邱氏兄弟来到上海后因为没有一技之长，只能做苦力，过着饿一顿饱一顿的辛苦日子。后来找到一家德商颜料作坊“德和号”打杂，在那里一直做到第一次世界大战爆发。1917年8月北洋政府对德宣战，派军队查封德国机构。德国商人慌了，立刻整理行装准备回国，匆匆忙忙将资产转手。德国商人看颜料没人买，只好半卖半送给了这两个中国工人，第二天就回了国。邱氏两兄弟开了一家名叫“广大源”的颜料行，此时颜料价格改十倍百倍地上涨，顿成巨富。
邱氏兄弟有了巨额资金以后，商议决定投资房地产买卖，一来风险较小，二来利润较大。他们先买下威海路上的大片土地，请名家设计建造了两座对称格局的古堡式三层楼房，用于两兄弟那两大家子居住，再是广置房地产，用于出租受益。他们在跑马场附近购地建造了大批里弄住宅，延安中路石门一路东首的念吾新村等数十栋新式里弄房也是他家用以出租的产业，用他们自己的话来说叫做“旱涝保收”。后来遇上租金直线上升，邱家的财产越滚越大。
“一方水土养一方人”，邱氏亲属定居沪上，仍没有忘却本家族的传统和习惯，处处反映出北方人的直爽、义气，处事讲良心，生活环境也尽可能贴近自然。邱家花园内四季花开不断，园中养了许多珍禽异兽，有老虎、蛇、鳄鱼和穿山甲等，每天清晨两千多只鸽子放飞时可谓洋洋大观。他们常常走出都市繁华、嚣尘聒耳的环境，到沪郊驰马习武。为此邱家还买下大西路（今延安西路）上的一处园林，养了十几匹马，专供自己练习骑射，外出打猎，在当时上海滩的富户中也属鹤立鸡群。
多福里为砖混结构，1930年竣工，被列为上海市优秀历史建筑。
