The best kept secret in East Texas! Lake Murvaul is located ten miles southwest of Carthage on Murvaul Creek in the Sabine River basin in Panola County. Lake Murvaul is an excellent largemouth bass fishery, producing bass over 8 lbs. Channel catfish and crappie are present in high numbers and provide excellent opportunities for anglers. Sunfish can be harvested at certain times of the year.
Sunset Cabin is a newly remodeled 950 sq ft cottage on the lake. Set on nearly an acre of towering pines, this charming home has new appliances, flooring, furniture, linens, and electronics.
Lounge on our large deck or one of our many hammocks and watch the sunset across the water. Relax next to the fire pit and cook some smores or play outdoor games like ladder golf, Lawn darts, giant Connect 4, volleyball, croquet, Kan Jam, or corn hole in the spacious back yard.
Enjoy swimming and fishing from our two-story dock or launch your boat at the nearby marina. You can always paddle our kayaks or try your skills on our inflatable paddle board!
The sleeping arrangements are cozy and comfortable with a queen bed in the extra bedroom, a queen-sized bed in the master bedroom and a fold out queen sofa sleeper. The master is also equipped with a beautiful view of the lake and blackout curtains to help you get a little more rest in the morning. The kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans, appliances, spices and all of the dishes and silverware you could ever use. You can also play grill master and fire up the new gas grill (propane is provided).
Our cottage is located on an area of open water and is only 2.5 miles from Lake Murvaul Marina where you can access swim areas, grab a bite to eat, load up on bait or utilize the free boat ramp. It is also conveniently located 13 miles from Carthage and an hour from Shreveport, Longview and Nacogdoches. The house sits on almost an acre of land with plenty of trees and privacy. We have a large deck, central A/C, open floor plan, comfortable living area and 2 bedrooms. The large yard also has a fire pit with beautiful view of the lake. The dock is a great place to fish with the provided fishing equipment, but also has great access to open water for skiing, tubing and boating.
Cell phone service is also not always reliable, but we have wi-fi. Although an inconvenience at first, it really is a blessing in disguise, as you get the chance to truly disconnect and enjoy the peace being near the water brings. Enjoy the giant TV and DVD player in the living room with your favorite movies or choose a movie from our library!
