Summary: The Casita is very nicely appointed and comfortable. Plenty of room, very tastefully and “western-ly” decorated. Fully equipped kitchen and a complete set of bath and bedroom amenities. (Please note that the broiler is in the drawer at the bottom of the range. Took us forever to figure that out…)Since it was December we very much appreciated the gas-fired heaters in every room. And the crow’s nest and fire pit in the back yard are a real treat. (One suggestion: Always take your shoes off before going back into the house. This is West Texas, home of loads of stickers and burrs and you don’t want to track them inside. Your feet will thank you.)We walked Marathon, drove to the smallest Buc-Ee’s in the world (look it up…) and spent two days in Big Bend National Park (a one-hour drive), including an across the border walk into Mexico. We were also very fortunate that the weather cleared on the night we drove to the McDonald Observatory for the Star Party (an hour in the other direction), stopping to check out Fort Davis and its National Historic Site on the way.All in all we had a wonderful time and definitely recommend The Casita if you’re planning a trip to this lovely area of Texas.
