The small village of Diex is the sunniest mountain village in Austria with more than 2,000 proven hours of sunshine per year, lies at around 1,200 metres above sea level on the southern slope of the Saualpe, above the Jaun and Lavant valleys and offers unique panoramic views. In Diex in the south of Austria, around 2,000 kilometres of hiking trails lead across mountains and valleys, past numerous lakes to little-known places in the remote villages and valleys with their unique scenic flair.
With a depth of 48 metres and a water temperature of up to 29 degrees, the famous Lake Klopeiner See is the largest, best known and warmest of the 7 lakes in southern Carinthia and can be reached by car in less than 30 minutes. With Austria's only continuous water promenade, Lake Klopeiner See is perfect for swimming and strolling. Right next door the idyllic Lake Turnersee is located, an absolute natural beauty and a haven of relaxation, surrounded by green forests and meadows, with a prefct view at the Karawanken mountains. Diex, in the South Carinthia Klopeiner See cycling and mountain biking region, is home to a number of easy and moderately difficult cycling tours such as the Hochfeistritz tour, the Saualm day tour, the Völkermarkt cultural cycle path or the Völkermarkt reservoir tour. The nearby MTB Zone Bikepark Petzen offers experienced bikers and World Cup riders a number of enduro nature trails, as well as an exciting practice course for beginners.
